Certainly a lot of small sample size stuff going on with these measurements. Guys like Trout and Harper have to deal with the "don't let this guy beat us" mentality in some key situations and have to be willing and able to leave the bat on the shoulder when they are pitched around.

I am seeing 13 years $330million with the Phils in the news....that park should be a good place for him to hit and I wish him well and will still root for him. I liked to watch the Phils in the Schmidt era but hated how they would beat up on the Cubs....nice of them to give Sandberg to Chicago to make up for it!

AAV lower than what was being discussed in the media, but Harper is locked up until about 40 and he can afford to enjoy life a little with that $$$$. Supposedly no opt out.

Whoopie, we got our guy! Are you more of a Cubs or Sox fan? This will be an exciting season.

There is one small caveat: Kaplan. Remember last year how he jacked with the productive orders nearly every game and screwed things up so badly some nights, the regulars on this thread were always shaking their heads. If that dumbass jacks with the successful line-ups like he routinely did last year, it doesn't matter how much money is hoarding, we will be screwed again!!

Nah, no one can ruin this year. If he bats Harper 9th, I’d be a little upset. Lol. Everybody hits! Wahoo!

That’s right, retro. As the ESPN report stated, “Harper signing has Philly in a frenzy!” You will have to catch some DBack games in Phoenix when they visit in August.

Cubbies all the way...hated going to old Comiskey when I was a kid, the place smelled funny and I remember mold growing on some of the walls. My mother eventually started taking us to Milwaukee to see AL games instead of the South Side (dad hated sports except for a couple of questionable ones, bowling and golf).

Phillies in CHI for four game series in May. Should be a sellout.

Congratulation! I was out grocery shopping and missed the big surprise. Listen, drop by Geno’s on Passyunk any day of the week and pick up unlimited cheesesteaks for you and your family. Tell’em jvett sent you. Good luck, dude!:pound:
I heard Genos is still trying to find you for 2 other times you pulled this crap. He is out 10 cheese steaks already!

These discussions speculating where Harper might go have been interesting. I really believed he’d choose Chavez Ravine to ply his trade. But, you know what, I think Harper, after playing in WSH for 7 years, likes the East Coast. It’s real, down to earth, nothing fake here, no palm trees growing out of the concrete. Plus, the Sports Complex in south philly is one of the best in sports towns. And he liked the team makeup, young guys on the verge, and the new additions. I heard that he also hit it off with Flex and is into food. Perfect.

Apparently there is no player opt out and a solid full no trade clause. Waiting to see the full fleshed details coming out on all of that.

But the press on it right now is that Harper was adamant that neither side has an easy out. That it’s about “family” and that means both sides are either all in or all out.

Remains to be seen for sure that this is the case. But, if true, I respect that. Hell, I like that. Even if it is very easy for a player to sign for 1/3 of a billion and be willing to fully lock in (being that his money is guaranteed, but production remains to be seen).

Now to trade Cozens straight up for Trout and the offseason is complete.

The full NTC and no opt outs blows the whole "Harper didn't like Philadelphia" narrative completely out of the water.
