Is Jordan Spieth "done?"

Don't get me wrong he still Is a great golfer but he is trending in the wrong direction, so is his days of dominance over? Was/is he an overhyped Tiger Woods?

the flat stick isn't performing like it once was. If he can get that back, he can get back on top.

He never had Tiger's mental discipline to go along with his great talent.

Good point about the mental discipline. The Masters debacle is a perfect example

He is too talented around the greens.
He will be back. Going thru a rough stretch for him.

He just seems to be having more and more mental lapses

Jordan had a good run of really good golf and was able to bag 3 majors during said run. But...what is it about his game that shouts dominance?

Not the longest or even close to it.

Not best iron player

Putting was his claim to fame and right now, he's struggling with the putter

He will continue to win events but the level he was on he was never going to be able to sustain that with his game.

I think he's tried to gain some extra yardage after seeing his buddy Justin Thomas ramp it up...that may have thrown his accuracy into the windmill and the rest of his game is feeling the effects imo.

Yeah, he'll be back, but dominating...IDT so.

I wouldn’t call a year and a half an era.

People want to label the next Tiger and it’s not going to happen. Tiger raised the bar and all these youngsters that came after him can maintain the Tiger level or close for about a month or so and that’s it. There’s about 5-6 that can do it now. The Competition is redonk

God I love the internet for good laughs. Some 17 handicapper on the internet critiquing Spieth as overrated.

I think the problems start with 'Tiger Woods.' I don't believe his name should ever be brought up in any comparison sake because there is Tiger/Jack...in any order you wish...and then there is everybody else. So forget that.

Secondly....any discussion about Spieth being done sounds more like 'drive-thru/twitter' speak to me. Nobody is gonna win Majors every year, and the fact that he last won one of them was 'only' a year and a half ago speaks to this 'gotta have it now' mentality. This exact type of conversation could've been had about Tiger in say....July of 1999...before he bagged the PGA Championship. Safe to say he was only getting started.

The guy is 25 years old. He's too good of a putter, and if and when he gets that figured out, he'll be winning tournaments again. I think it's a fairly safe bet that he'll get a few more majors, barring something bizarre.

You came all this way for a laugh and a dig?

LOL...have fun.

Well stop making ridiculous hot take comments about a 3 time major champion before the age of 24 and I’ll stop laughing.

Sloop. Atl is a classy poster on this forum who follows golf closely and has a lot of really solid opinions. He is very knowledgeable on golf too. No need to attack.

I agree that this is a bump in the road for Spieth and he is not done winning majors.
Too talented and too high of a golf iq.

There can be an argument made that he won’t though.

My apologies @ATL96Steeler. That was pretty mean spirited and uncalled for. Just a knee jerk off color response to an opinion I disagreed with. So instead of laughing I shoulda just clarified my opinion.

I’m not a Spieth fan or apologist by any stretch. I’ve just been around the game all my life. My best friend was a rookie on the PGA Tour last year. Through him I’ve also gotten to know several other tour guys. Those guys respect the hell outta of each other. It’s always funny to hear them talk about how “hard” golf is. So they all have their ups and downs, so when they see a pier of there’s struggling they’re always pretty complimentary of each other. Any of them will tell you that a guy like Spieth who’s won THREE majors already has a dominance about them they all wish they had. Took Phil into his 30’s to win a major, and that was against arguably weaker competition. Spieth will figure his putting out, and when he does, he’ll be hunting more majors. I still think he wins at least 6 and maybe many more. You don’t get at good as he is and just fall back to mediocrity the rest of your career. 99% of the tour wishes they had as much talent as him.

You missed by a few strokes, but yes a handicapped golfer made a critique of a tour level golfer...one that has 3 majors and currently struggling. We do such things in the golf forum...if you didn't agree with my post, just state such with one of your own.

If all you have to add is attacking my golf game, that is laughable...that said, I REALLY don't give a fuck what you have to say or laugh at?

Well...I stand by my post #18, bring a take of your own...I know my hack game is not worthy of critiquing any pro...but we do.

That said...apology accepted...water under the bridge.

Let me give you some names.

Johnny Miller
Fuzzy Zoeller
Sandy Lyle
Greg Norman
Ben Crenshaw
Mark O'Meara
Jose Maria Olazabal

They all have only 2 majors, and all are in the golf hall of fame (except Fuzzy. We know why)

Golf coverage in the 20 years or so has taken a toll on some golf fans. Some fans have allowed the golf media to redefine what golf success is.

Jordan has:

11 PGA tour wins not including Majors
3 majors ...won the Masters, US Open & The British Open. I believe one of only 7 players (or less) in the history of the game have won all 3 of these.

PGA Rookie of the year
PGA player of the year
PGA Tour player of the year
PGA Tour leading money winner of the year.
Fed Ex Cup Champion.

ALL BEFORE HE WAS 25.

Now when I see questions like .."is his dominance over?" Looking through the lens of his accompaniments above, that question can seem preposterous.

The history of professional golf make it perfectly clear what is success.

So the question really should be "Why the fuck should Jordan ever need to be dominate again?"

Here is another: When will anybody, especially the golf media grow a pair and go after Ricky Fowler?
There is a guy who rightly deserves some heat for nor having a major title yet but the tour is so desperate for more young fans they need Ricky's popularity. So they don't touch him.

When they need to beat someone up, they just wait for the 4 time major winner Rory to get on the tee, and hit him with 3 negative stats before his ball is in the fairway.
