the vast majority of their sources are, without a doubt, agents. And agents are only leaking that info to help their own purposes so you have to take it with a grain of salt.

When you think of the big NBA picture and all the discussions that happen, and all the trades that are made out of nowhere- like the Knicks one that was not reported until it was on the 99th yard line, or like the Cavs turnover of their whole roster last winter, it shows that, in the grand scheme of things, even the best NBA reporters only get a very small glimpse of the big picture.

I also think that a guy like Woj has journalistic standards, and could probably report on more than he does but only reports on what he does because he has his 2 sources.

When you are at his profile, even if he is being lied to by someone, you have to have your 2 sources or you can open yourself up to being discredited and losing your rep which is all he has.

All I'm saying. I'm sure someone could tell them something, but the fact is most of the reports turn into nothing. There is no good reason for anyone who matters in a FO to want it known one of their players is being shopped. could the source be an agent? sure, but as we know from what actually happens, they don't know what teams will do.

As mentioned, there are probably GMs talking to these players telling them exactly what I'm saying.

You're confusing leaked information with a purpose, like a list of teams AD will consider signing with, with an outright trade rumor, which any idiot can throw out there without sources.

Yes, I'd expect they do. The job of his agents is to know what he wants and do everything they can to make sure he gets it.

It would be kind of hard for them to make sure he gets what he wants if they don't know what that is.

I mean, Lebron has never said that he wants to move on from Luke as coach. But his "people" are saying that's what he wants. Do you really think they're just out there saying that without Lebron's blessing.

Fair points, but thinking Lebron and AD are a bit different. Lebron also rarely says anything, while AD actually did give his thoughts.

when a deal is agreed upon, yes, woj has a source who might tell him. When they are rumors, no one in a FO who matters will tell woj what is going on (if he likes his job).

I agree, they aren't. Woj doesn't deal in rumors, but facts that lead to deals.
