I'm with you, put Gardiner on the right side and see if Muzzin can "fix" Zaitsev. The total ice time will all end up fine anyway.
I mean, it's worth a shot isn't it? I could understand the hesitation to pair Jake and Morgan before but it's different.

It's also not like Dermott's going to be a bottom pair d-man for much longer either.

Well yeah, like I said the overall ice time will probably end up working out anyway. I may be wrong (I've been a little out of the loop) but I feel like Dermott hasn't been getting bottom pair overall minutes lately anyway, am I wrong about that?

I like Gardiner and Rielly together actually, I'd love for them to get a bit of a run and see what happens. At least until the Zaitsev trade

I had seen a lot more Dermott lately (and he was making the most of it). I just assume with the new order he's probably the most likely to see a decline in ice, even if everything else starts to even out among the top 4.

I am 100% certain Mitch Marner will not sign an offer sheet. I am 99% certain nobody else in the league will, either.

Leafs core is full of high IQ players and I am starting to wonder if they are buying into what The Cock is Cooking.

Well quite frankly they are playing like boneheads. Seems like every night now one or two guys show up and put in an effort and the rest of the 'stars' sit around waiting for them to do something. Their PP has gone from lethal to impotent and with the collection of talent on that team you could literally throw darts at the roster and come up with a top 10 PP, even if you managed to dart two goalies. It seems like Babs only solution to anything is to shuffle his lines which he does constantly, sure it might get someone going but it screws up the chemistry of what was actually working. Stretch passes haven't worked at all this year and yet we are still trying to do it. Our fourth line should see minuscule minutes at best this year yet I shudder every time I see Gauthier out on the PP. It might not happen often but why is he ever on the PP? Babs seems more and more like he is an old school coach in a new NHL, he has the new school roster but is trying to play heavy without the horses to do it. He reminds me of Andy Reid, great coach who fields a competitive team every year but can never beat the real good teams due to stubbornness and a failure to adapt. At least the Cock doesn't even have to worry about time management.

Oh well, we lose to the Wings last night so I expect a thrashing of the Pens tonight. Because we of course clobber playoff teams but can't seem to beat teams out of the playoffs.

Marner, Matthews, Tavares, Rielly, Nylander, Kadri all seem like extremely high IQ players to me. Kap, Marleau (probably belongs in the top list) Brown all seem like above average IQ players to me. If the system was sound it seems to me like we should be killing it like we were for the first few weeks. Something is broken.
