Arizona is going to be interesting to watch. It may be a complete train wreck again.

I don't understand the Klingsbury hiring .. Wilks got handed a bad team and was given no shot - whether Rosen has what it takes or not, just about any rookie QB in that situation, with that OL, his OC being fired mid season - it's a recipe for failure .. Or at least for time required to build something ..

I think Klingsbury finished out his tenure with three straight losing seasons, and with no real contacts in the NFL, said he'll "lean heavily" on GM Steve Keim as far as assistants ..

I cannot imagine it working out well, at least in 2019

So he bears no responsibility for his performance? Got it.
He does bear responsibility because the buck stops with him.

Okay, let me be clear. Vance Joseph bears responsibility for his lack of game preparation, lack of game management, lack of discipline, and lack of direction.

Elway bears responsibility for hiring Vance, and after two seasons of unimproved football, fired the coach, most of his staff, and hired a no nonsense disciplinarian. On top of that, he stood by his new coach and allowed him to get rid of (or Elway got rid of) Kubiak, because the new HC's plans did not mesh and Kubiak wanted to bring back staff Elway and Vic didn't want.

Blame Elway because he hired him.
and wanted to replace him after one year. Yes this is more on Elway than Vance. These positions are so few and far between any DC/OC will take a HC job. Just like the combine, I'm sure these candidates are being coached up to say the right things. Its up to the organization to due its due diligence i.e. attention to detail to get these hires correct .

Vance did not get a top chance with the Broncos. He showed some weaknesses for sure, but the fact that every player and every coach knew VJ wasn't in charge - Elway was the guy calling the shots - he had no real chance to establish team discipline.

For whatever reason (No QB?) - Vance could not get an offense on the field that had any consistency. The defense could not figure out how to cover the TE and that was compensated 100% by the offense never throwing to one. Not to mention penalties - especially at the time - when everyone on the team needed to be paying attention.

Elway almost did the same thing this time around anointing Kubiak some kind of offensive input before hiring the coach
If you don’t empower the coach no way the team will respect him when things get tough

So if he almost did the wrong thing, that means he did the right thing, right?

There are a lot of good coaches still under contract, and at the time so was Kubiak. He maintained the coaching team except for those he believed underperformed, and gave the incoming coach the right to keep or fire any of them. We retained a number of them like Kollar, and got rid of a few including Kubiak.

Give credit where it's due, instead of some backhanded version of "he did the right thing."

I honestly don't want to sit here and talk crap about the guy now that he's gone, but I don't recall a single time that he impressed me. The biggest impression he made on me was last season when he'd make these really weird facial expressions in press conferences and on the sidelines. To me he came across as a phony. Like a serial killer trying to fit in with the normal humans. Other than that, the Defense seemed to play better when he (apparently) took over playcalling. That's a positive but not a huge one for a Head Coach and I can see why he got a job as a DC once he was let go.

VJ was set up to fail in Denver.
And didnt have the skills or ability to make it work after the fact either, despite a ton of talent.

The QB situation was horrible. Hard to think any coach was going to win with the QBs Elway provided.
however Elway did not do his due dillegance when hiring VJ.
