Very debatable as to whether he's top 5 all time, but whatever....

….No...I do not want a 30 year old receiver who is in it for himself and himself alone. I do not want his presence in a lockerroom of mostly younger players, and spread his toxicity. If the Niners go after vets, I want leadership first and foremost. Brown is obviously part of the reason why the Steelers' players have put up huge individual numbers, and is equally part of the reason why they haven't really sniffed a chance at a Super Bowl.

Don't blame you.

But, Brown is not equally part of the reason they haven't played in a SB recently. The DEF (Poor scheme, and specifically ILB and CB) are 80% of the reason PIT has not sniffed a chance the last two years.

Totally agree with you and what @dbldwn711 stated. What will most likely happen is this whole issues is "resolved" internally. Put "resolved" in quotes because it really won't be and this mess Tomlin and the FO created will fester on.

Tomlin has become the king of sweeping things under the rug.

I mean he is arguably the best WR in the league so they no doubt are going to miss him a lot and it will show. As great as Juju was he was also playing alongside Brown, lets see how he would do getting double-teamed bc you don't have ABrown on the other side. All that being said, they do have that luxury to trade him and like you said while he has peak value, this would be the time to pull a deal.

Clearly they would miss AB, but it really sounds like Tomlin has lost this team or will be soon....one way to reel the team back in is to make a bold move such as this one.

Unfortunately, the restructures have made it a lot more expensive to trade, and I have a feeling Brown knows this. He probably feels he can say whatever he wants to say.

This team is done. Burnt to a crips, toss it in the trash and start over. The lack of discipline boiled over this season like I've never seen from this team.

Yep...except AB does not fit the NE MO...they will pay for elite DEF talent, (especially secondary), but aside from Gronk and Brady himself, the rest of the skill position OFC players are $5 mil per or less.
Agree the Pats have tried the project troubled WR before. Moss may have been the best. Great regular season put up numbers. But it felt like his attitude resurfaced in the SG when they lost to the Giants.Pats are better suited with the system WR's they seem to be very adept at finding or signing. Welker,Hogan,Edelman,Glenn etc...I don't see AB as a good fit for NE.

As far as the Raiders I would rather have Juju. But that isn't happening

This will be a fun follow this offseason just for the hilarity of it.
I mean, he's absolutely spot on about Tomlin.

Harrison is a diva himself though.

There are no good guys in this spectacle. I can only hope it serves a purpose to get Rooney and Colbert off their asses.

JuJu Smith already surpassed him as a #1 mind-way through the season. Not really missing out on much. Strike while his value is still peak.

This would be a no.

Juju has been awesome, but keeping it real...he benefits from the dbl coverage that AB attracts. Take Brown away and this entire OFC has to recalibrate. Ben and the OC would be forced to integrate more players into the #1 read position.

We got by after getting rid of Mike Wallace, and Santonio Brown, when they were the #1 receivers.

If nothing else, Colbert can draft WR's and keep on humming. Other teams manage to have passing offenses without Antonio Brown.

I don't know how they afford to trade him though. It's going to be a mess. Just hope they get more for him than they did with Santonio.

Also hope his career trajectory mirrors Santonio's.

Moss wasn't a problem in NE...they just ran into a perfect storm of a DEF.

As problem kid players go, AB is on the light end of the scale...rarely stuff that would keep him out of the lineup. The reports are this guys bust it hard at practice, and harder for games...but has a difficult time handling a loss, especially so if he wasn't targeted much.

If I were OAK, yeah Juju is younger so obviously I'd be interested in him, but if they want a legit #1 to take pressure off the other OFC players...AB is the man, albeit only 2-3 more peak seasons left.

Going to agree to disagree. The giants did play great D but Moss flaked in the SB.Dont forget part of Moss's bad attitude was giving up on a lot of plays. Where the prototypical Pats WR's. Played a much less selfish game and made several key plays over the years. When nothing was there..Pats are better a better team with the WR personnel they have had success with for years. Not so much the diva WR's imo.

As far as AB/Juju i do think hey elevate each others games. But Juju has a higher ceiling. I will be biased I've watched him play as a Trojan his entire career. But he goes beyond the ceiling. No ego loves the game and is a game breaker. If Pitt does trade AB I don't think Juju has a problem transitioning into WR1. Washington has the potential to slot in at WR2 as he progresses

WR1s, yes they were, but I'm not even sure Wallace was the best WR on the roster when he left.

Juju is Juju, but there's nobody else on this roster ready to take on 160+ targets though. This move is too bold for PIT to make...they would have to be floored (top 15 pick) to lose AB and take on the deadmoney hit.

That's also not a bad thing.

A lot of Ben's mistakes have come forcefeeding AB the ball.

One players SHOULDN'T take over 160 targets next year.

Washington, hopefully. Our TE's, Conner and Samuels, and another rookie or two would need to take up that slack.

And JuJu can absolutely take on the #1 WR role.

Fair to agree to disagree. I think you're reaching a bit on Moss with NE though....it's easy to apply the selfish label to Randy because it was applicable for a lot of his career. Most of my NE fan friends tell me by diva standards Moss was a model citizen that season.. SB? The Giants front 4...that was the kryptonite for Brady and the NE OFC...Brady was sacked 5 times and hit at least 5 or 6 more times.

I'd be content with Juju WR1 and whomever the WR2/3 are at this point, but if you asking me who the better WR is right now...no question it's Antonio Brown and I'm a huge Juju fan.

Agreed, but Ben and Fichtner would have to rethink the entire OFC game plan....most OCs have the WR1 as the #1 read most of the time...idk this, but I dare say as much as 50-60% of the passes.

Love his talent, but at this point...If I could get a legit starting CB for AB...I would make the trade and let him be AB somewhere else.
