1 horrible call and 1 missed call by the refs molded that game. BS DPI on the Chiefs to put the Chargers at the 1 yard line and a missed OPI on the Chargers on that last TD. Great last drive by Rivers but, for me, it was tainted by the refs.
The refs were a joke, yes...

But they were garbage for both teams. It's not as though it was some Jeff Triplette level fuckery where they call forward progress on a stripsack.

eh, not really .... chiefs lose in seattle and chargers win their last 2 and chargers win the division ... not really an outrageous scenario
The %'s for that don't really add up to that being a clean cut scenario like you imply is the problem. Individually, they look fine.

It's the same problem with predicting the best team in the NFL to go 16-0.

I do agree with you Moose on chilling with the hype. I strongly disagree with Seattle resting starters though. If it was the final week, maybe but not with 2 to go. And Pete and the Hawks will want to play that game in a meaningful way. They won't give an inch at home. Doesn't mean I think they will win because I believe KC wins that game. Just that the resting guys narrative is way off base.
Well, logically, it's no different then a bye team resting starters in week 17.

Of course, NFL teams are the least logical people on the planet on a whole host of things, so....

If that DPI call isn't made, the Chargers are still at the KC 10 yard line on 4th down. Not on that type of level, but it has the biggest impact on the game over any play in the game.

Just think they didn't have Gordon, Ekeler or Allen. I thought the 2 point conversion was ballsy but KC being at home they could get the ball and score a TD on that first drive in OT. The Chargers are a legit contender to win the AFC and it all but Rivers has to get over that hump.

Yeah, logically maybe for some teams and coaches. But I'm just thinking more about the Hawks and Pete Carroll's DNA on the matter. He believes in playing guys and I think he has respect for the game. Maybe if neither team had anything to play for but not in this case. Maybe one or two key guys if they are banged up but not the main characters. It's a fun discussion though. We will see next week. Cheers brother. Good luck to you guys. :suds:

Whispers: Rivers is every bit as good as Ben Roethlisberger, but there will be a large contingent that refuses to admit it

whispers back: sure, maybe now, but in their primes, not really, no.

I didn't say outrageous, just not likely. Plus as somebody else said, they are in kc against a high power offense. Why not?

But if the Refs called an obvious helmet to helmet hit on Rivers a few plays earlier that situation never would've came up.

But why wouldn't you call it?

It was what it was.

Good game by both teams last night. It'd be nice to see Rivers finally get a ring this yr. He's been a great QB during his career, a ring is the only thing missing for him.

i'm surprised how many people are rooting for Philip Rivers to win a SB ring .... i've always found his personality to be kind of irritating and whiny.

i'd much rather see Brees win another or Deshaun to win it .... someone more likable at least

I always felt like if the Giants had taken him and kept him, instead of doing Archie Manning a solid, that he and the Giants would have at least done as well as winning two Superbowls.

I know the standard comeback is usually "Rivers can't beat Brady," but he would have had those NYG defenses that carried Eli

Those San Diego teams in the 2006 to 2008 seasons were sending a ton of players to the probowl each year. In 2007 I think they sent 12 players to the probowl including 3 on Defense and 3 special teamers. So it's not like Phillip Rivers didn't have stacked teams to back him up. That team should have won a title or two, but they ran into some teams that were also stacked and had great players. That's the NFL though, someone always wants it more and even great teams get taken out.

What a great game. I'd like to see Rivers get his ring to silence any remaining doubters about his ability. I know his stats are great and he's still getting it done, but it doesn't look as if he has too much left in that arm, so he'd better do it this year.

Guy has 22 kids, surprised he can still walk. A lot of wear on the leg

Correct. 2 missed called by the refs. Totally forgot about that one.
