Nice pics. I drove through Northern Italy decades ago on the way to Cote De Ajure, or someting like that. These people talk funny. Anyway, withing a few years, I hope to find myself in Rome and Maranello, location of the Ferarri factory. Europe is so beautiful, you wonder why all the wars.

@jeep99tj one of my favorite parts of Italy. Food was really good but the desserts were unreal imo

This is why I'm not allowed to have the camera :dhd:View attachment 183997View attachment 183998 View attachment 183999

Didn't like Venice but actually framed this one

View attachment 184000

Beautiful pics.

What didn't you like about Venice?

We just got back from Paris about a month ago and several Americans were on our guided tour that were doing more of a Euro trip...3 days in about 4 or 5 destinations and two of those we spoke with said they liked Italy (Venice in particularly) the least.

Just curious why you didn't care for it. Italy and Spain are on my wife's bucket list.

FWIW...Paris was incredible.

effiel tower.JPG mona lisa 2.JPG notre dame cathedral.JPG

Just a few pics.

Effiel Tower of course...lines were ridiculous...if you go, the guided tour with the skip the line feature is the only way to do these touristy stops.

Louvre...just massive...you must push and shove a bit to get to the rope at the Mona Lisa exhibit

Notre Dame Cathedral...construction started in 1163...yes, it's 800+ years old and they still hold Mass there! No AC!

I'm not a fan of boats. We did do the Gondolas our family we visited in Naples already gave us the heads up. To walk away from the Gondola operators so the would drop the price. They tend to run it up for tourists. Lets just say I had a lot to drink and it didnt sit well :L But I may just be biased because I enjoyed Rome so much.Aside form what felt like 8 million stairs

My bucket list hopefully next trips. Would be Greece always like their culture and architecture . Australia. Japan is on top of my list tho.

Thiose pics are awesome would really like to see Paris and Spain as well.

LOL...been there for sure. Rome is high on our list...probably do a Euro type trip next time. I'd like visit Greece as well, but also Denmark, Sweden, some Scandinavian regions.

Paris is incredible...very NYish in pace, but architecture, history, culture, all on it's own and lot of activity. Tourist friendly place, felt safe...we really enjoyed it...our timing was good coming off the WC win, and the Tour de France finishing...the people were lively.

My trip in June centered around seeing Pearl Jam in Rome. Used the train and visited Venice, Florence, Rome, Sorrento, Positano, Naples and Milan.

Loved Italy. Was TDY there for 6 months during the Bosnia thing. Venice, Milan, Rome etc are great, but I recommend hitting Southern Italy, Campania, Sicily, Puglia etc.

I was near Brindisi, Bari, and Lecce, all were great and Lecce is a hidden jewel, call Florence of the South.

Ha! My favorite saying, an entire island of people, only one stick of deoderant. Germany used to also be particularly bad.

Lovely pictures @TheRobotDevil I'm headed to Rome on my way home next year from a round the world. Just Rome, all I have time for. Looking forward to seeing the major sites.

I hope you have a great time beautiful country. Australia and Japan are the top 2 places I want to see next. I'll just make sure I avoid Bama fans if I get to Australia before SC/Bama

hahahahaha

Only passed thru the airport in Japan, been to Australia several times. My daughter dives, I snorkel so I'm always face down the water somewhere but I did get to the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne to Adelaide. Awesome!

Africa for safaring was an experience. I'd do it again. Surprisingly, Egypt was interesting. Never thought I'd be interested. Plan on staying much longer there next year.

My sister went to Egypt she stayed with at a friends house we went to school with. Not sure if you went into the pyramids but she said the entrances were really tight.

She also went to China on her internship for architecture. She learned the hard way you need to carry your own toilet paper with you there. They don't have public bathrooms like we do just holes in the ground. And you have to provide your own TP :L

I'll have her send me some pics she took of the architecture. She lives in San Francisco now

That's awesome. Oh yes, I carry my own "wet wipes" everywhere and discovered the "hole" in the ground when I went into the wrong stall in Indonesia. You have to look at the signs on the door to know what has a seat & what has a hole.

I didn't go into the pyramids, not a fan of enclosed spaces but they just awesome. I'm doing a Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan & back hitting just about every temple along the way. Looking forward to it.

LOL, we were barreling down this really nice 4 lane highway in Sharm El Sheikh in the Sinai when a guy on a camel just pulls off the desert right in front of us. Not something you see often. We were all too shocked to even get a picture as we passed him by.

Thats what my sister said. She freaked going in the pyramids and she's not even claustrophobic. I'll have her send me some of her pics next time I talk to her.

I freaked when a moose shot out in front of me in Maine. A Camel jumping out had to feel unreal.Had to be one hell of a picture ya got

I wasn't a huge fan of Venice, either. Loved Florence, though.

Cause you’re a dork. Funny it was the opposite for me. I think Florence is one of those cities you either love it or hate it. I think my hate for it is probably because of the time of year and the hotel we were staying at had what appeared to be the entire state of New Jersey there.

Florence (as well as some other Italian cities) suffer from too many tourists. That's why I recommend going during the "off" season, or exploring Southern Italy and Sicily. Besides better food, etc, the people in Southern Italy are nicer than the north.

I do recommend Bologna though, it it IMO the best "eating" city in Italy, They are right on the cusp of North and South and you get the best of both there, plus since it's in the heart of Italy's breadbasket, you have tons of fresh vegetables, fruits, etc
