Why does the Mariners organization hate Mariners fans?

This is all the M's ever do man, it's all about $, not about winning... TV contracts allow them to be losers and still make money.... Alaska, Montana, Portland, Idaho, all watch the M's, even if the Stadium sells no tickets they're still gonna make money... If the M's were on the East Coast they wouldn't get away with this...

Which is why I would love for Portland to get a NL team so the Mariners would be forced to compete for viewers.

This quote from Idiocracy pretty well describes the Mariners and their viewer numbers. "The #1 movie in America was called "Ass." And that's all it was for 90 minutes. It won eight Oscars that year, including best screenplay."

:D I hear ya man... I would LOVE to see a baseball team in Portland, would definitely put pressure on the M's ...

Yeah, at the very best 1-2 mid level prospect(s). Continuing to take on undesirable contracts from other teams, while trading away your own undesirable contracts doesnt make any sense unless you try to flip for something in return.

Problem is... in order for someone to take on Santana’s contract, the M’s will have to take on someone’s contract for prospects.

Could see the M’s continue to be in a loop of undesirable contracts.

They could end up keep Santana to play DH for next couple years but his productivity will be no where near Cruz at 17mil when Cruz had an annual salary of 14mil. I rather that they resign Cruz

Which is why Sheehan’s idea isn’t terrible at all. It actually makes sense. Who cares if santna is better than Ells? You need more prospects

So the Mets and Phillies both said no to what Jerry wanted then he just shrugs his shoulders and says ok I’ll do it your way.

Thats been my mine issue with all his trades. He never has put himself in a position to hold the cards. However when you are purging your roster and make it known then your guys lose value. However Jerry only knows one speed. God forbid he wait until the winter meetings to gauge some of these guys value but his pants are just on fire and need to be put out i guess

I'm thinking Crawford will break camp as the starting shortstop and be in Tacoma by mid-June, after Dipoto finally and begrudgingly gives up on him.

Im hoping its the opposite. If you think this dude is any part of your future keep in the minors for the first 6 weeks or so and that gives you an extra year of service time if im not mistaken. That needs to be kept in mind for all these dudes. No one needs to be rushed.

What's Dipoto's problem ? Even if the ownership knows nothing about baseball doesn't Dipoto know something ? The M's are getting weaker and it's gonna reflect on him...

Jerry knows his way of baseball but doesn’t know how to GM. The owners don’t care about baseball as they are allowing Jerry to keep making trade after trade that A. Is getting laughed B. Too early in the off-season to purge your roster. Zunino ok, makes sense. But Segura, Colome and Diaz he should’ve waited until the winter meetings to at least see their market. He is a Mickey Mouse GM and is making this organization even more of a joke than it has been.

Jean Segura trade grades: Phillies get a high mark while Mariners leave a lot to be desired

I think this has a pretty good write up.

I think they obtained Crawford with the mindset that he's a MLB ready player whose value has decreased a bit due to his 2018 performance. Who knows.

Look I get everyone is pissed that his returns aren't door busters, but for the last decade we have bitched over and over that this thing needed to be blown up and start from scratch, he's finally doing it, and yeah maybe his returns aren't the top notch everyone wanted, but lets' face it, Cano has a black eye with the PED's Diaz one year wonder, Jean started a damn fight in the club house, it's not like Captain Disphit has the greatest chips to trade with.

I guess I'm in a wait and see pattern, this ain't going to be built over night and I'm cool with that, I would rather pay to go see a bunch of kids grow instead of a over priced vet make a half ass attempt on a ball hit in the gap....

not getting prospects for segura is a pretty big mistake.

as one tweet already posted in here said, if JD did it right, you guys would have a top 5 farm system at the end of it.

instead, he did this deal.

Given Jean Segura's age, contract and high level of performance, if this is the return we'd be getting for him I'd rather hold on to him and keep him for a rebuilt team.

It's all contingent on what we get for Carlos Santana and if Crawford is able to develop into his potential. I'm not very optimistic about that. Scouts gushed over his ability to control the zone, but that hasn't really lead to great results in the minors or major leagues. He's still young, but I have my concerns.

Again I'm not trying to defend Dip on this, I think there is more to this then what we know, it's either they are covering up from the negative comments the doctor said they made or Jean's attitude really is crappy and they were taken what ever was offered..

Given the fact that Segura is an every day regular and doesn't have Paxton's injury concerns, you can make an argument that Segura should be able to net the Mariners just as much as Paxton, even with Segura's black marks.

D is a bit generous but look like the M’s will go all in with Crawford from this trade.

As for Santana, pretty much with the same mindset that they will flip him for something. He does have some value.

Hopefully his shitty contract won't get in the way of landing prospects.

I have a really bad feeling this will be the case.

Even the more positive evaluations of Crawford don't exactly excite me.

I don't get it, Segura was playing pretty dam good baseball... :L
It doesn't do him or this organization any good if they are in full rebuild mode. By the time they come out the other side, Segura will clearly be on the decline.

Yes. Weaker.... a lot weaker but again, it's not going to matter if they are in full rebuild. This is the problem I see with winning 89 games last season, it gives fans a false sense of hope, but in reality, the team peaked last season with an aging core, they're not going to compete with the Astros or A's unless they blow things up and start over. I give them a lot of credit for realizing this, but it's only half of the battle.

1) The M's have made it obvious now that they are in full tank mode for draft positions..
2) Developing the prospects and draft talents, which they have shown to fail over and over again in nearly 2 decades, I'm more concern about this than the current state of this team and who they are losing.

Oh you got all these young talents at 19-21 years old? Great! Now show me you can turn 1 or 2 of them into potential superstars.

Getting Klenek in the Mets deal is a fantastic get.

This deal is more baffling to me.

Problem is keeping him just simply wasnt an option. There was too much turmoil between Segura and the Mariners that everyone knew he had to be gone this offseason. Couple that with some teams not thinking he's a SS and that severely crippled the market and value that we had hoped he would have.

"Oh here's this guy thats a terrible clubhouse cancer but what would you give us for him" That's basically why we had to just give him away.

Yup. The Segura deal is awful, look like just wanting to get rid of him for anything.
However, if they can flip Santana, then you could potentially look at Segura for Crawford + 1 or 2 mid level.

Only thing is, if Dipoto was more patient, he could probably get this elsewhere besides the Phillies. :L
