Let's say that Smith decides to retire but that retirement is based upon a medical settlement.
1. Does such a settlement clear cap space or will the settlement amount count against said cap?
2. Are subsequent years voided with this type of settlement or can the amount be spread over several years.
3. Is it possible for a team to void guaranteed monies if team doctor's deem a player no longer physically fit to play?
4. Tell me about reporting for camp and how reporting/ participation or other bonuses factor into guaranteed contracts.
5. What options does this team have with respect to the Alex Smith injury? Especially if he can't pass a physical exam.
6. I'm almost 100% sure that Smith doesn't retire for the 2019 season, but, what happens if he does? Doesn't that void his contract or no?
I Need some help with these questions, anyone have answers?
