Looks like we're going with a young guy. I can be ok with it.

In regards to the agent, how would that work? Isn't there a conflict of interest?

I have no idea what the FO is doing. I'm thinking they passed on hiring Melvin after he publicly said he intended on keeping Callaway as the Manager if he got the GM job....just a day or 2 after Fred Wilpon suggested he wasn't sold on Callaway.

As far as conflict of interest goes, I'm not sure if there's a certain protocol or rule in place that doesn't allow an agent to become a GM.

That being said..I do know the team being owned by the Wilpon's is definitely in direct conflict with most of the mets fans' better interest.

Would love to see us grab either Ramos or Grandal at catcher. Get 2-3 relievers as well. Those are in my mind the most glaring needs.

Ramos would be okay....but Grandal didn't exactly do himself, or his team any favors late in the season, and he really hit the skids in the playoffs.

But who knows...sometimes a change a scenery...yada yada.

Word is we have interest in Grandal and Andrew Miller. I'm 100% on board with both of those moves. Miller coming off a subpar year but I still have faith.

I'd even bring back Familia.

No idea if it's media talk or if there is validity to it but would you be open to trading Syndergaard?

Obviously it would take a monster haul to move him but if we got a great package and then turned around and signed a Dallas Keuchel, are we in better shape?

I'm good with upgrading catcher but why sacrifice assets in a trade when viable options are available via free agency?

Mets, Indians talk Yan Gomes trade

Fuck that noise.

Sure I'm all for an upgrade at catcher, but we also need to keep Nimmo & Thor.
Nimmo. I agree with on going the FA route instead of a trade.

I don't want to get into a subtraction by addition scenario, unless it's for the bullpen.

It's also way passed due time to bring up INF Peter Alonso imho.

btw: any updates on Travis d'Arnaud??

The Mets have hired Adam Guttridge as their assistant GM of systematic development, SNY's Andy Martino confirmed.

Guttridge, who has a deep analytics background, began his career in baseball in 2005 with the Rockies. He then joined the Brewers, where he seved as Manager of Baseball Research and Development.

After working with the Brewers, Guttridge co-founded NEIFI (normalized empirical individual forecasting index), where he co-developed the Automated Prospect Model, which received an award from MIT.

I really hope we can unload Jay Bruce. I know his value is rock bottom but I'd literally give him away for free.

He's everything that was wrong with the last regime, wash our hands of him. He's just a complication at this point, get rid of the distraction, free up his salary, break up the logjam of corner outfielders.
