Anybody here ever been there? Recently? I got scheduled to go to Hotayi for work in a few weeks. Never been and have no clue what I’m in for culture-wise. Plan is to be there for 2 weeks.
Verdict so far:
Don't come here. Unless you like squatting over a pan to take a shit & rinsing your ass cheeks with a hose.
I may be overdramatizing it a tad... but still don’t recommend public toilets. Even the western style ones are equipped with the hoses. And the people that are used to the eastern style make a huge mess of them every time they use the western ones. Looks like someone had a water gun fight in there.Wow!...3rd Worldish huh?

Yep that sound about right! We had to specifically request toilet paper at the place we were working at.It's all clearer, now. I worked for a company in New Jersey years ago and the Indian immigrant software engineers (very bright folks) had to be told not to bath in the restroom sinks. At first, I thought they were only changing clothes. LOL.
Foods ranged from all over Southeast Asia. Lots of seafood based cuisine, but also tons of chicken (Indian foods)

Lizard... I bent over to get my phone within a couple feet of it so I could get a better picture and it reared on me and got very aggressive. Even my golf caddy told me to back off.Monitor Lizard. Pretty much harmless unless you tick them off.
Anyone going into the Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia area needs to check with their doc for malaria prevention medications. It's a series of pills, starting before you leave, while you are there & for a time afterward.
Hint...you do not want malaria
