As I've gotten older my appreciation for a good pair of gloves has grown. Keeps the digits from getting stiff. *cue stiff "digit" jokes*
I mostly buy cheap gloves because I lose or mangle them so often. I also usually need to keep them off when I park outside to lock up the house and get my stuff in order until I start the car.

The exception is for skiing, I will buy decent mittens for that occasion as well as glove liners and chemical hand warmers. My daughter has heated mittens with batteries, but I have not treated myself to those yet.

I have tried wearing gloves liners for driving to keep my hands marginally warm until I can put gloves on, but they get damaged so easily that it wasn't worth it. Got used to wearing multiple gloves as a kid because the cheap ones we had were so bad, also slept with up to eight blankets on me because they were poor quality and my feet were right next to an old single glazed window that would get totally coated with ice.

It was 85 here less than a week ago — it was 33 this morning when I took my son to school and I had to defrost my car windows to even see.
Michigan weather is crazy.
"If you don't like the weather here, just wait ten minutes" - what people have said everywhere I have lived.

First couple of days under 50 are coming later this week. Halfway through October and it's been in the 70's and 80's most of that time

It was 85 here less than a week ago — it was 33 this morning when I took my son to school and I had to defrost my car windows to even see.

Woke up with snow on the ground yesterday (melted off by noon) and frost on everything this morning. I like it!.... but it is a little early. I expect that more in mid-November 'round here.

I usually use some Nike running gloves for this time of year. A little insulation while maintaining tactile touch for driving. They've held up pretty well.

So you are clearly in the "I want Frost to stick around" camp?

And this is not to disrespect Nebraska or the quality of their HS football, but the top tier teams are those who have the built in homegrown talent as their base — Nebraska’s HS talent is sorely lacking. From 2013-2017 — Nebraska had the same amount of blue chip recruits as Idaho and Rhode Island. It puts them in a big hole compared to other schools.

Filling a team with 2 and 3 star recruits from Nebraska makes it impossible to compete against schools bringing in 4 and 5 star recruits every year. Nebraska has to rely on getting those type of players out of state, which is much more difficult.

I completely agree Nebraska also hurts in population we have less than 2 million people safe to say half of those are female. Of the half that are male who who knows how many are under 18. And of the 18 and under males only a handful play football let alone good enough to go to a P5 school. I have been saying for many years that Nebraska high school football and Athletics needs to pick up in terms of money being allocated towards nutrition and weight lifting and Sports in general. playing sports helps with your grades is a whole host of reasons why playing sports is beneficial to kids but in a state population as small as ours we need to do everything we can to make sure that the money is being spent wisely on High School athletics and to get kids and keep them interested in any sort of sports.

No chance — Alabama is only taking the best of the best from the state of Alabama. I have no clue, but I’d guess 25-30% would be from the state.
They have WAAAAAY too much talent surrounding them in SEC states to waste that many spots on lower ranked home state players.

It's 40%

I’d be surprised if it were that high, as the first time in a decade, the state of Alabama didn’t have a ton of high school talent this past year.

In a state the size of Alabama — the amount of talent top tier talent is crazy they produce. They averaged roughly 2 five star recruits a year over the past decade. Louisiana is the same way with elite talent.

Ok, I counted. 39/117 or 33.33333% homegrown.

We need to just shut down the football program completely and dump the money into basketball.

We’re a basketball school now

Instead of University Snobs, Lincoln should be "Road construction."

Yup. I'd also add in good boots. Nothing sucks as bad as froze toes.

Nebraska produces players good enough for Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, North Dakota and Wyoming. How many kids from Nebraska are being targeted by Alabama, CLemson and Ohio State?

Nebraska is a virtual dead sea when it comes to producing elite college football prospects.

I would say that most schools aren't going to come and recruit from Nebraska or you'd see more players from here in the NFL. It's not a lack of talent but more so lack of opportunity. There are 4 people from my school in the years that I attended who ended up in the NFL, 2 of which were walk-ons at Nebraska. Another who I played soccer with was also a walk-on at Nebraska and went into the NFL. I have 2 cousins who played in the NFL, one who played and won in a Super Bowl. So to say that Nebraska is a dead sea is just ignorant. We have talent, it just isn't utilized. It's why the walk-on program at Nebraska produces so many great names. You have all the talent that was never given an opportunity to go anywhere else.
