Shouldve told OBJ to fuck off tried to sign a QB. The good news is they're so bad they'll get another shot at a top pick this year but live and learn I guess

Elisha Manning's career is not over. He is having a relatively solid year despite his line being so inept as to not even allowing him more than about 1.84 seconds to either throw it or get drilled.

Box score nerds like the OP don't have a real NFL mind or opinion as to their omit the actual eye test of watching the entire games.
uhhh...you didnt watch huh?

I still can't believe so many are convinced that he is a Hall of Fame QB. I"m a rings guy and understand their significance. But they aren't everything. If you look past those 2 amazing playoff runs he's has always been OK to pretty good, nothing more.
i doint think he should be by todays modern passing standards

he JUST eclipsed 60% career comp %.
his career playoff rating is 87.4. its better than his career rating of 83.7, a rarity for a guy to have a better playoff rating than the regular season these days.
example - brady is 90.9 in the playoffs, 97.5 reg season. aaron rodgers as well...103.7 regular season, falls to 99.4 in the post season. eli has played better in those 12 games than his other 222. he has that at least.

i still believe if he gets in, so does plunkett. both have 2 rings. both didnt carry their teams to them. both were under performers relative to their elite contemporaries.

He sort of straddles two eras; one where most QB's were only throwin 20-25 times a game, and one where they're heaving up 50 attempts an outing.

If he plays his entire career in the 50 PAs/game era, he looks a lot worse

uhhh...you didnt watch huh?

in a way, every QB is looking 'ok' with the new rules ..... hell, case keenum and dak prescott have been 2 of the worst regular starters in the league this season and they are completing like 63% of their passes ....... that used to be pretty decent .... it's a different game today and if someone doesn't take that into consideration, they could be deceived by what they're watching.

In the new NFL it appears, if your QB isn't throwing for 5000 yds, 30+ TD's and 10 picks or less each season, your QB isn't one of the good ones whereas in the past if he was only 4000/25/12, he was one of the better ones in the league.

Eli is on track for 4400/16/11 .... in today's NFL, that's bad.

Eli was playing at a decent level in 2016. Imagine if the Giants were smart and had traded him to a team desperate for a QB after that season. Then, they could have traded up in the draft and had Mahomes ...

Looking at his contract there was no way they could have done that. He just signed a contract a couple years earlier. Looking at the numbers I think the reason they kept him was cap related. His dead money if released was $24 mil which was more than his actual cap hit. After this season they can release him and his dead money hit will be about $6 mill. There is no way he remains on the roster after this season. He will either retire or get released.

The end of Eli in N.Y.: Time for Giants to move on from Manning

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Four more years, Eli Manning predicted in the summer of 2017. He said he still loved the training, the film work, everything about being a starting NFL quarterback, and he figured he could compete at a high level until age 40.

"So I don't see it slowing down," he told ESPN.com at the time.

Yet now, at 37, it is slowing down to a grinding halt. Manning has devolved into a shadow of his two-time Super Bowl MVP self, and it was clear Thursday night to every fair-minded fan in the house that his time as the New York Giants' franchise player is coming to an end.

Actually, that time has already expired. In professional sports there is no such thing as a franchise player for a 1-5 franchise, or for a team that has lost 18 of 22 games over the past two seasons. As much as it hurts to say it about an athlete who has always carried himself with grace in the world's noisiest market, Manning's exit is no longer a question of when, but how.

I don't think it's all Eli, but I do think if he don't get with another team next yr, his career is over...
But hey 2 SB wins over the best team of this era ain't nothing to sneeze at...
I think he is too easy going to buck the system in NY and needs another one to be successful....
Somebody will trade for him if he wants to keep playing....

Eli is still a good quarterback.

Anyone saying otherwise hasn't watched the games.

your're right im sorry it didnt last the WHOLE first half

At the end of the first quarter, Eli had a passer rating of 7.8 while Wentz checked in with a rating at 128.8. At one point in the second quarter, Manning was 0-for-7 with an interception on any attempt deeper than two air yards

just part of it which is still pathetic

"Throw the ball," the exasperated Giants coach, Pat Shurmur, was caught by a Fox camera barking after Manning threw painfully short on a second-and-20. "I'm sure the cameras could've caught me upset a bunch of times," Shurmur conceded later.

At halftime, Manning had converted none of his eight dropbacks in third-down situations.

He was sacked four times, and when pressured he went 2-for-14 for 16 yards.
