I completely Agree. People need to stop going to powderpuff games and maybe someone will take notice.

I am happy to see us play two P5 non conference games.

I'm on the other side of the argument. If the other conferences aren't gonna change (and hey, why should they?) then the Big12 should go 9 conference games, 1 P5 ooc preferably a good regional or national rivalry say OU/Nebraska, WVU/VT or Pitt, Texas/A&M, Iowa/ISU, KU/Mizzu ect. to begin the season, then a low tier G5 scrub to warm up for the conference race then another scrub be it G5 or D2 ect. in November to give our teams a break down the stretch like the SEC does and let the chips fall where they may.

You get the tough rivalry game at the beginning, the warm up , the conference race then the CCG at the end should you make it.

Pretty good set up to make the playoff as far as the conference imo.

Totally with GoldRusher on this. If SEC teams are going to continue their BCS bullshit scheduling and not be penalized by the CFP, then everyone else should follow suit.

Alabama, who will play eight conference games, one Power 5 non-conference against a rebuilding Louisville and then it’s Arkansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette and Citadel. Oh and don’t forget that Citadel game is on November 17th, essentially giving the team its second bye week in a month and a breather before their game against rival Auburn.

Wasn't DAD criticizing WV for scheduling Villanova and JMU not too long ago? Look at this schedule..

Dad was critical of playing 1AA teams at neutral fields, and I was critical of the hypocrisy of Luck SAYING he wanted to play good teams, then buying out of FSU, MSU, the SEC rotation that Pastilong had going in order to play 1AA teams.

He had to and even by doing this, our competition level increased just by leaving the Big East. The new schedule was just as good in the new conference and has ramped after joining the league. Luck started it and we see No Balls has kept it going.

When the playoff first came to be their folks started telling everyone how much integrity they were gonna have and how SOS was going to be important ect. But just like always the folks in control of the CFB post season were full of it.
Some programs scheduled better and some didnt and... we see whats happened.

Schedules don't matter, the only thing that matters is your name, Bama, OSU, ND, Oklahoma, USC, etc will always be in the picture, everyone else must have a great season, and even then, people will try and say a three loss Ohio State team is "more deserving" than an undefeated no name team. They "eye test" they invented means they look at the name of the teams, not their game........

I agree but its better for the program to at least be in the argument then not.

Wisconsin,Baylor, UCF , , Okie State, WVU , Miami,TCU, KState, have all benefited as far as reputation due to good record and questionable schedules in recent years

There is a HUGE difference between a warm up game against a 1AA team AT HOME, and buying out of games against good teams to play a 1AA team at DC.......playing Kansas is a HUGE drag on the schedule, so the OOC has to be bumped up a notch. Usually IAST is also a drag, and last year Baylor was, so the schedule needed to be improved, we played the equivalent of four 1AA teams last year, ECU, Del St, Kansas and Baylor, the sad thing is that the real 1AA team in that list was probably the best team!!!

Still uncertain what the point is..but lets go with it..Whats Alabama's excuse?...their schedule this year is FAR worse!

In 2012, WVU played JMU at Fed Ex Field... and was paid pretty handsomely to do so. Right?

In 2012, WVU was playing its first year of Big 12 competition. This was a huge change in our schedule! The conference schedule jumped from a 7 game round robin... to a 9 game round robin. Prior to WVU joining the Big 12, did it ever play 10 AQ opponents in a single season? If WVU doesn't drop the away game at FSU that year, it would face 11 AQ opponents with a team lacking any kind of depth at any position on the field.

Seems like a pretty silly argument to make...

The buyout made sense when you consider the new schedule, new conference and the money involved, but a home and home with a big name like FSU can make for some great games. If I were AD, I would try to keep the game if possible as opposed to a JMU game followed by a Georgia State game the next year.

Since joining the B12, I don't think we have hosted a P5 team at MPS. The revolving B12 schedule gets boring after a while. I did not watch much of the JMU game and had little interest in Georgia State. Had those games been against FSU, they would be must watch games.

There is a downside to those games as well. When you lose the opener you are essentially eliminated from the playoff race and you become irrelevant quickly. Where you have teams from the SEC playing in conference and against 1A teams piling up meaningless wins, everyone else needs to match those wins if they want a chance. When we play tough non conference and they all do not, it is not fair and bad for the game. If the committee would take the point of view that a loss against FSU is better than a win against Citadel, we may see a change. Unfortunately, the formula works, the SEC placed 2 teams in the playoff last year. Who did they play OOC?

this year we have Tennessee and NC State both away. At home, our good games are KState, TCU and Oklahoma. How many more people get season tickets if we take out youngstown state and replace them with an FSU, VT, or even Maryland. It puts some intrigue and excitement in the schedule.

I'm 100% on board with Dana. The SEC schedule is a joke and we should not have to play bye games to keep up with them in the W department.

It’s very obvious you’re not a HC.

Not a single HC would want to face the kind of schedule you’re favoring.

BTW, since joining the Big 12 we’ve hosted Maryland and Mizzou at MPS.

I'n not a HC I am a fan who likes to watch good football games. We don't get enough of them.

By the way Dana talks, he seems to be in favor of big competition. I am sure he would love the home and home with teams like FSU. He also knows it is suicide in today's NCAA where many teams schedule 3 powderpuff games each year. the B12 and every conference have weak teams every year. CFB would be so much more entertaining if all teams scheduled real OOC competition.

2 P5 teams at home in 6 years. I think that makes my point. Compare that to 1-AA games at MPS. Are you chomping at the bit to watch us play Youngstown state this year? (yes Dad they may be better than Kansas)

To illustrate my point, take a look at my fall schedule.

WVU has NO chance of being in the "playoff" with a weak ooc schedule, as a matter of fact, no one in the B12 not named Oklahoma or Texas has a shot without playing AND winning against top OOC teams. I am so sick of people running their mouths about "p5" it is pretty sad when running over a lousy Kansas, Illinois, etc means more than beating a quality Boise or BYU team.....also sick of hearing people talk about the B12 like we are playing in the NFL.....like every league, there are some really good teams, some decent teams, and some lousy teams. We are in a league where there is very little interest in the conference games outside of OU, so we need to have some interesting HOME games against quality teams OOC, I HATE the neutral site games and the weekday games. If that Tenn game was at home, I would be there.........
