Don’t know about that. Sure he is better than Keemun. But that is irrelevant. The question is will he be better than Keenum’s career best season.

We often believe that just because player a is better than player b that means player a will always be better than player b. But that is just not true.

Really, cousins will be lucky to have as good of a season as Keenum did last year.
I feel like there are two doors with Cousins. One where he is a little worse than Keenum was last year because lots of things went right last year and maybe Cousins struggles in the red zone. Or possibly that the Vikings are so good that they get too many first half leads and they don't need Cousins to produce in the second half.

The other door is that he challenges top fantasy QB in the league with a ridiculous number of weapons. I'm not sure I'm there with that.

The later stages of that Vikings schedule is really easy. Vikings have had a top 10 D in DVOA the last 2 seasons. I wouldn't be shocked if they pumped the brakes at the end of the season a little bit and just ran the ball a bunch. (I know you shouldnt speculate on schedule strength....but....welcome to the internet)

I like Cousins more as a football player than a Fantasy Football player but if you're getting rockstars at RB and WR and settle on Cousins as a QB1 then thats not too bad. I wouldn't reach for Cousins.

19 QB had a better passing-yards-per-game average better than Keenum (247.1) and a better TD-per-game ratio (1.5).
Cousins should at least match both stats with ease.

A couple things.

The redskins never really had a running game so cousins had to pass more than normal. The Vikings are an elite defense team that wants to run the ball, so I just can’t believe that they will even let cousins throw close to the amount he did last year.

Last year Keenum didn’t even start right away so his stats are not even trustworthy for per game.

Keenum still played in 15 games, starting 14 of them.

I get it, Cousins has his doubters.
But you can't convince me he isn't a better QB than Keenum.

You don't pay a QB like Cousins the money they threw at him so you can strictly run the ball and lean on your defense. (Then they just should have paid Keenum and kept him at a cheaper rate.)
I envision the 2018 Vikings as the modern-era Colts when they ran with Edgerrin and passed with Manning.
Opposing defenses will be on their heels.

I’m with you Joe. They didn’t pay him to be a game manager and the Vikings OL isn’t such that the Viking can simply run the ball into the teeth of a defense over and over. Cousins will do fine.

I never said he was better. I think cousins is the better qb.

Just pointing out being a better player does not mean you will do better. And there is a lot of reasons to expect a downgrade in stats. The biggest reason is Dal Cook.

Don’t forget he was hurt for most of the season. So the vikes HAD to throw the ball more.

Elite defenses like the ground and pound offense because they control the clock. So if you still think the Vikings are an elite defense, and cook stays MORE healthy, then it is hard to think that cousins will play as aggressive as he is used to

He doesn’t have to be. He just needs to play more games than he did last!!! For this argument at least.
true. im merely stating that most on this board think every guy who got injured is gonna be ok 100%.........every time........and htats just not true...........

I agree. But cook does check all the boxes though. Who wouldn’t want a young potential stud who showed flashes last year and is on a team that is expected to be very good with one of the elite defenses. I am sure if health wasn’t a factor, he would make most first rounds!!!

Y'all are obviously misunderstanding what I'm saying so..
I think he'll be just fine, hell put up decent numbers, and still won't be a QB1 no matter what they pay him, because he wasn't when he had to be, now that he doesn't have to be, its assbackwards thinking to think he will be. Doesn't mean he's gonna suck, doesn't mean ANYTHING other than he's not a fantasy QB1, especially on that team, with that game plan design. If that's not simple enough, I give up

I get it.
You're both wrong.
He will finish in the top 10 among QB.
Book it.

I think we're conflating aggression with efficiency. Diggs, Thielen, Rudolph (a fine group), good O line (and/so, a good run game), good D (can keep opposing D's tired due to being on the field too often).

All positives. A little more capable to gain a few with his legs as well.

Top ten? Meh, after a handful of arms, does it really make a difference between 9 and 19?

Hey, kids might be reading this.
Or Foot.
Don't use such big words.

And does it make a difference 9-19? Maybe. All I know is I don't want #19. Especially in a 12-team league.

Sure, but maybe 9, was 3 for four weeks and 16 for four weeks, etc. That is all (mostly) matchups.

Ryan Fitzpatrick could be top ten out of the gates for the first three weeks.

That said, I'm not afraid of Kirk. I'll avoid cousins, but I won't avoid Cousins. Consistency plays a stress relieving role in this crazy game.

I'm not sure many people can tell the difference between 9 and 19 right now. I've seen Cousins everywhere in online rankings from #5 to #18. I have my own theories but I think there is some dropoff between 9 and 19.

Honestly, I'm not sure QB drafting even gets super interesting until you hit something like a 14 team league. In smaller leagues, it seems like everyone wants to wait.

To be honest, I'm not thrilled about any QB this year. Brady Brees and Ben are old and breaking down. Rodgers broke both collar bones and could be a risk. The scrambling QB in Wilson and Newton are hot and cold. I don't particularly care for any of these guys. This could be the perfect storm for the fantasy QB this year.
