I won't say more now due to spoilers and such even though WCW has been dead for over 15 years now. Just typing that makes me depressed. Add in the death of ECW around the same time and........deep breaths........OK.....I fell better now. Off to watch old ECW epoxides on the WWE Network. That always cheers me up!!!

I watch all the Sting/Crow sting stuff I can on youtube.

God I loved that character.

Unfathomably brilliant to take your #1 in ring talent and not use him for like 15 months in the ring...and he GAINS in popularity (I read that he was #2 in merchandise sale at the time to stone cold...think Austin could've done that without saying a single word?)

I miss WCW too.

War Games was a nifty concept. Lots of fun.

The NWO was absolutely brilliant for over a year.

Crow Sting....

And some of the greats that cut their chops in WCW. Flair, Jericho, Booker T, Guerrero, Benoit, Malenko, DDP.

It was a solid product.

I kinda wish WWE would bring back some of the PPV names that WCW used, and def War Games.

No, Austin's attitude was a big part of his Stone Cold character and you can't get that over if the character doesn't speak.

It was solid for decades until it was run into the ground at the end by various parties.

Exactly my point.

I'm not sure anyone else could've done what Sting did.

Excluding the Undertaker. But that wouldn't have been such a dramatic change to put it on the same level. So I'm not really counting him or Kane or someone who was already "Crowish." lol

Ok I'm on chapter 3.

A few things:

1) WCW was horribly managed before Bischoff.

2) like i said, adding the Giants was retarded. He should've been the in ring talent WCW badly needed while Sting did his thing.

3) The Roddy Piper thing worked once, but that bait and switch was brutal.

4) if Hogan wasn't gonna do it...all this backstory on Flair shows he would've been the next logical choice. Not sure how much of his story was public back then though.

5) I get what they're saying about some of the mid-carders, but you need some fodder. Otherwise it would really seem like WCW had no chance, and they were all written horribly like idiots except for Sting. I was always baffled how WCW never got its act together. Ever. I know it was the writing, but jesus they made everyone seem fucking retarded.

1998 and 1999....jesus.

WCW was so bad. I'm glad I fell off as a wrestling fan so I missed the Ric Flair in an asylum nonsense.

I will say the book talks about the in-ring talent, but everyone besides Goldberg, Bret Hart and Sting were cruiserweights, and frankly like boxing, Cruiserweights are not typically the ones selling tickets. Jericho, Mysterio (who i always hated lol), Malenko (unreal wrestling talent, but not much personality), Benoit, Eddie Guerrero were all good talents. But how many could consistently anchor a main event?

They needed to really utilize their heavyweight talent that people liked (the 3 above) and elevating some of the other talent like DDP and Booker T and really use them. But when you have the talent doing the booking, and giving aging talents creative control, tha'ts what you get.

I thought Luger and the Giants were under-utilitzed for sure.

Luger was great during the NWO run, and had a super marketable finisher in the Torture Rack.

Typically not but all 5 of those guys main evented in WWF/E and 4 of them held the heavyweight belt for a time. And the 5th (Malenko) held lesser single titles and the tag title if memory serves, so not too shabby. All 5 were held down by the older booking talent in WCW. Almost everyone was under utilized by WCW. The list of names who left and became big stars in WWE is almost a mile long.

That's why I said consistently.

I will say Benoit was phenomenal in the ring.

And Mysterio/Guerrero at Halloween Havoc is one of the best matches ever, save a brutally terrible ending.

No question some of the bigger names that were older (I will never understand WCW's obsession with Piper...at all) really held them back.

Also, not one person had any idea how to promote the Giant. WWF or WCW.

16th Anniversary show was entertaining tonight but it set up one hell of a SuperCard of Honor show in a couple of weeks;

Marty Scurll vs Dalton Castle for the ROH Title
Cody Rhodes vs Kenny Omega
Hangman Page vs Kota Ibushi (presumably)
Austin Aries (in a shocking return) vs Kenny King for the TV Title

Yeah...I'm skeptical on this one considering from what I've read on her, she's far from credible and has burnt bridges with every place she's ever worked

Which is a shame, because she's an absolute smokeshow

Eh, I dunno. She's a bit of butterface imo. Lots of heavy make up too, not a fan of that. I am amazed at how she never popped out of those flowy tops she wears though. WOW
