What Magic is doing is exactly what he went through as a player. He is bringing in a ton of players both old and young and then the Lakers will go through training camp and he'll keep the best of the best. Randle took himself out of the picture by telling everyone that he didn't want to play for the Lakers anymore. Ten-to-one, he goes to Cleveland and joins with his former mates of Clarkson and Nance Jr. to do what they did in LA. Lose a lot. Buh bye!!

Randle signed with New Orleans yesterday.

Yea, DJ and Cousins signed with the Dubs. Maybe Randle is going to find out he left a pretty decent and developing place for one that might include a lot of losing. AS Kobe has stated, if you have to inform someone that they are a Lakers player, they are not the player the Lakers want. I thought Randle was poised to have a great year but now he can ply his trade elsewhere.

I'm kind of hoping they sign Lopez on a one year deal now. They need a big.

One thing should be said: The passing on the Lakers will be OFF THE CHAIN with Lonzo, Lebron and Rondo.

While the team doesn't have many shooters (yet), they shouldn't have any trouble finding an open man with those guys.

True.

The only problem is that the open man will most surely be left that way on purpose because he can't shoot.

It doesn't have to be a 3 point shot. Guys like Lebron, Kuz and Ingram can easily take it to the hoop and finish strong.

But yeah the team definitely needs a shooter though. Magic is probably working up something as we speak.

on a side note, that Mo Wagner kid didn't look too shabby last night...

I was at work so didn't see much of him other than some brief highlights. I'll be watching tonight though.

From what I heard, the Kings pretty much had their regular season line up on, lol

I refuse to get NBA TV too. Can't stand their 'Players Only' commentary

But,

Finishing at the rim is much harder when help defense can load up without having to respect shooters spread around the 3 point line.

This is nonsense. For one, New Orleans is a good spot for him. Randle, Mirotic and Davis is a filthy front court rotation. And Randle never outright said he didn't want to be with the Lakers. If anything, its the other way around. The Lakers didn't show him long term commitment so he was interested in exploring ALL his options, which include other teams and returning to LA on the right deal.

Actually, Randle is the one that asked to be renounced. He thought his role would be reduced.

So It looks like the Lakers now have a choice:

Dwight Coward - formerly known as Dwight Howard

Brook Lopez -

My vote is Brook Lopez - he is a better shooter from outside the paint. His defense most likely not quite as good as Howard's though

One, that source was from Ramona Shelburne, who is essentially the PR firm for the Lakers. Her source for years has clearly been Jeanie Buss and she spins everything in a positive Lakers light. And two, even that report included what I said, the Lakers didn't commit to him. After stringing him along showing no real indication of what they were going to do with him short or long term, he started looking elsewhere. It not how Ram framed it as Randle as some bum that never wanted to be a Laker

So to recap:

Lakers lost Randle, signed Lebron

Replaced Thomas Bryant with Javale McGee
Replaced Tyler Ennis with Rajon Rondo
Replaced Travis Ware with Lance Stephenson

Added Wagner and Svi in the draft

And Magic is not done yet.

All upgrades IMO

If one person can shut up Lavar up it's Klay, he was 16 million times better than Lavar at the greatest university in the universe.

I don't remember either of them playing at USC.
