What do you guys think Matthew was doing all season. Dude didn't even come home for Thanksgiving. Maybe he was actually a spy the whole time too.

Did you see their conversation looking out over their new city as contentment or depression?

sure... when they were talking about how different their lives would have been if they stayed, that could have been understood that AMERICA the land of choices, gave them the life of choices... gave them a family, gave them eachother... and even though Russia is their home, America was their home for so long that that's where their lives were...

they didn't really stare into the night with hopeful eyes...

but again, what was so brilliant about the ending is that it truly represented the WAR that that the whole show was about... The cold war was a "peaceful" war with no winners and only losers... Just like the finale...

I didn’t get that. I got the sense that Elizabeth had zero respect or feelings for Philip. She was saying what they would have done had they stayed and she said something to the effect of “I would have worked in a factory... Managed a factory. You would have...”. She saw herself as a leader. A boss. She saw Philip as a schlub, but stopped herself before actually saying it.

I was thinking that she may have stopped herself because "married Irina". Another thought I had is that she couldn't come up with anything showed how little she actually knew about both Philip and the country they were returning to (I also thought she was directly pulling her job/life from the protagonist of the movie that they watched a few weeks ago)

I guess it was more of an open ending that I thought... which is always a good thing.... although your ending does not fit my narrative at all... so I would assume it is wrong... but even if it is wrong there very well might be some truth to it...

that dream she had on the train, do we know where the apartment was?? it didn't look like Russia to me, unless I missed something... which then would be interesting that her fantasy with the man she loved was not a RUSSIAN fantasy... but again I may have missed something there...

That is possible. One of them also said something like “maybe we would have even met.” But there was a pause that I read as “yeah, and where would THAT have gone??”

Didn’t she have an affair with a black spy in S2 or S3?? I thought that was that guy.

Correct it was Gregory, her "first love". A memory of a time when she was taking children and family for granted.

Was it originally a flashback as well? I thought it was a guy she was working with in the States.

In season 1 Gregory appeared in both flashbacks and real time, they were working together in the present but also had a long history together.

I just watched the Finale yesterday.
I'm still thinking about it, which indicates to me what a great job they did with it.

A few thoughts:
- As others said, that garage scene was phenomenal. I think I held my breath through most of it. Even as they were driving away, I thought Stan may decide to fire.
- Paige on the side of the tracks kinda killed me. While the use of music throughout the series has been great, I thought they topped themselves with the music in that scene. The scene was powerful on its own, but the music put if over the top for me.
- The last line in the series ... in Russian ... we'll get used to it.

There was also a moment in the past that was mentioned on the show at one point (possibly Gregory told Philip the story? I don't remember exactly) when she showed up pregnant (with Paige) on Gregory's doorstep wailing about how she didn't want the baby and she couldn't do it. The dream was almost certainly calling back to that as well.

You know what struck me about the dream? The picture of Paige and Henry. If she wants to see a picture of her own children now she has to sketch them.

They just saved Gorby from a coup. Unless they run into Putin, they should be good to go in Russia.
finally finished the series last night, so not sure if this was after the finale or not, when they said they were going back to russia, i was under the impression that the message wasn't received.

huh? the whole situation with elizabeth leaving and then phillip during thanksgiving is what made Stan get back on the scent that something was off with them.
