No More "Bullpen Failure" - maybe
I think that is just Jamey being Jamey.why in the world would JD and the owners do something like that? we have no plans to even compete for x number of years so why do anything?

Kershaw to me is absurd. I heard last night on MLB Whiparound that with Rich Hill having physical issues and not resigning Darvish that they would be interested in someone like Hamels. They were saying the Dodgers have been big at the trade deadline in adding the pieces they think they need.Interesting speculation re trade moves by Newberg via Athletic. Thinks we go after Kershaw and Archer
I agree with you and DT that Guzman stays. We have gotten rid of enough 1st baseman's and our defense is garbage now we don't need to make it worse. He thinks Mazara ends up at 1B. I agree with you though. We need contact hitters with great defense

I can agree to a point with what you are saying but the Dodgers will be buyers so Kershaw will stay a Dodger.Rangers have rarely gotten into a bidding war especially in the FA marketplace against the huge markets. IMO they are building within, keeping money for extensions, waiting for new ballpark to make a newsworthy splash and keeping powder dry for final SP piece of that are hot in a pennant chase 2 years down the road. If they get a discount sooner they may jump on it next year but even that is uncertain
and we would be competitive in what year? 2023? 2024? or laterWhat I would like to see as our lineup in 2021.
C Trade acquisition or Whatley
1B Guzman
2B Seise
3B Gallo
SS Elvis
LF Mazara
RF Martinez
CF Taveras
DH Calhoun
Starting Pitchers
Crouse
Matuella
Palumbo
Free Agent
Cody, Martin, or Phillips
With Cole Ragans arriving in 2022.
If things play out for us and Martinez and Taveras do well this year and next I wonder what DeShields trade value will be by then.
We have gotten rid of enough 1st baseman's and our defense is garbage now we don't need to make it worse.
I hope we see Guzman on first and Gallo on third and then solve the problem at second and that should be a very fine defense. OF is a different story but time to work that out.I agree with ya on the number and quality of 1st basemen we've let go. However, beg to differ on 1st now. I do not think Gallo is garbage and could see him doing just fine there for years to come, if it comes to this.
I was actually speaking of the thought of Maz being at 1B which means Gallo is at 3B anyway. So I just do not want to part with Guzman just yet. I don't want to be reading about him tearing the league apart in another jersey. I will take my chances with Gallo at 3B eventually to keep both of those guys on the field. We are not going to have someone as good as Beltre at 3B regardless of who plays there of course.I agree with ya on the number and quality of 1st basemen we've let go. I think that being problematic is kind of like a couple of weeks ago some thought the idea of Guzman forcing Gallo off of 1B was problematic. I think when Calhoun shows everyone what he can do with the bat folks will be clamoring for us to make a place for him somewhere.Trading DeShields is somewhat problematic. To me, it all depends on how well he does, and how well/not Calhoun does. I could see us parting with Calhoun and putting DDJ in left.
Not necessarily. One thing that I had to leave out of my equation was what we get in return for Hamels, Beltre, a couple of relief pitchers, maybe another starting pitcher and possibly Choo and eventually DeShields. What comes back in those trades could hasten the rebuilding process. There is also the possibility of some short term free agency signings that are not of the bargain basement variety. Then there is the fact that some of those guys I mentioned could be here in 2020.and we would be competitive in what year? 2023? 2024? or later
hope you are right but my guts says that not all of the players listed will be starsNot necessarily. 2021 is a very realistic goal for making noise in the playoffs. We could very well be back in the postseason in 2020.
Agree. Lot of speculation.hope you are right but my guts says that not all of the players listed will be stars
They don't all have to be stars.hope you are right but my guts says that not all of the players listed will be stars
We once speculated on Feliz, Holland, Elvis, Cruz, Kinsler, Harrison, Colby and Hamilton. We even speculated that Beltre didn't just produce in contract years like some claimed. We speculated that Napoli would work out. Before that we speculated on guys like Young, Blalock, and Davis. Speculation is a major part of the game.Agree. Lot of speculation.
