Peak Melnyk right there. Gave out gift cards for fan appreciation night and never activated them.

The guy probably "forgets" to sign his rent cheque every month. What a dipshit.

There's a chance I may be working in Ottawa as early as next month - I've never even visited the nation's capital before, so any tips on places to stay, things to do would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's a nice town to walk around, check out some of the greenery and sights, and be on your way the next day. If you're there for a prolonged time it might be a good idea to bring something you need to do some catching up on.

I was there for an early meeting two weeks ago so went up the night before. Stayed at the Arc Hotel. Nice, wasn't expensive, not far from the hill.

things to do

Well, you will be only a hour flight away from some playoff games.

Just in time for the tulip festival. Which is actually kinda cool.

I always liked the Chateau Laurier for the architecture alone.

/clearly not much help. Last time I was in Ottawa was for a meeting with CRA, so what do I know about a good time

Hopefully they haven't done this to it yet:

I never spent more than a weekend there at a time, but I have to agree the great places to walk around. Especially along the Rideau. Nice setting. Stayed with a buddy, so we hit all his haunts in and around Kanata and went to watch either the Sens or 67s.

And remember - when walking along the Rideau in the spring, sunbathing topless is legal. Be prepared. Wear sunglasses if the missus is along.

A little OT but one low-key town out that way that I’ve come to like a lot is Kingston.

Fucking loved Kingston.

We did some reno work at the Military College there and began planning site visits on Fridays or Mondays so we could spend the weekend in Kingston or out in 1000 Islands. Really grew on me.

That was on my short list of places to relocate those years ago. Unfortunately it was right after the tech bubble popped and emigrating for an IT guy was a tough sell with so many out of work then. Would live in Kingston in a heartbeat.

Loved hanging out throughout the islands.

I'm really, really hoping the Sens get the 6th draft spot this year and have to make a terrifying decision.
