NFL Network's Mike Silver believes the Seahawks are "open for business" on a potential Earl Thomas trade.

Having traded DE Michael Bennett and expected to cut CB Richard Sherman, the Seahawks are blowing it up on defense. DE Cliff Avril and SS Kam Chancellor's futures are in doubt due to career-threatening neck injuries. Thomas is healthy and still playing at an extremely high level, so he would make the least sense to part with. Thomas turns 29 in May. He's made six Pro Bowls in the last seven years.

What about sending Cravens and a draft pick to Seattle For Thomas. Seattle is going to need a safety and Cravens does have a cheap contract. Thomas would be the FS that we need. Thoughts?

Yes, I would make a play for him but i wouldn't give up our 1st or 2nd round picks. He would be the FS we've needed since S. Taylor passed. He's a ball hawk and knows how to actual play center field or protect the hashes. Do we know what Seattle is asking for at this time?

I don't know the asking price but we could offer Cravens. So if they want Cravens we wouldn't have to give up a first or 2nd. Heck the Giants only game up a 4th and 6th for Ogletree. He is only 26 years old and Thomas is 28.

There is no way Seattle is trading Thomas for Cravens, straight up. They'll want draft picks too.

I understand that but not for a 1st or 2nd. Why wouldn't they not want Cravens? Young and cheap.

Not cravens and a 1st or 2nd. I don't think Seattle expects a 1st rd pick for Thomas even straight up. However, they Skins don't have a 3rd and Cravens and a 4th isn't going to be enough.

Cravens and a 4th should be enough. Ogletree just got traded for a 4th and 6th. Thomas is older. Plus Caroll gets a USC young player. No other team could offer a young safety like Cravens so that is an advantage for us. Plus Seattle is going to need 2 new safeties b/c Chancelor has an injury problem.

Ogletree isn't a top 3 player at his position. Thomas is and will remain so for the next few years. Big difference.

If Cravens had the value you're assigning him, the Skins would keep him.

Dean is so eager to trade draft picks. Let’s wait and see if he is released

its not a talent thing with Cravens its morale, that he left his teammates high and dry last year. Isnt Olgetree getting paid like a top 3 ILB?

Funny how we always want someone else's spare parts but don't want to keep our own before they become spare. :noidea:

It would take Cravens and a first to get Thomas.

Thomas is the best in the league at his craft. Ogletree isn’t close. Craven has no value. That age is negligible.

I trade a pick for Thomas.
i would too if we didnt give up the one that could seal the thomas deal on a 34 yr old stop gap qb

cravens and a 3rd would do it , not cravens and a 4th

nope

he is a 10. 4 mil cap hit and basically a one year rental for us since he is a UFA in 2019 which precludes trading future draft picks at this time

so you would have to negotiate an extension to even think about a trade

Agree especially since Thomas has expressed a desire in the past to play for the Cowboys.
