12/16 recap

So yesterday we had Oklahoma beating a Wichita State team that was #3, Kentucky growing up quick by beating the Hokies, Purdue and Indiana winning in the Crossroads Classic, Florida State and Florida losing in the Orange Bowl Classic, Gonzaga needing OT to beat lowly North Dakota, Kansas holding off Nebraska, and Xavier rallying to beat freaking East Tennessee STATE!

And that was just in the Top 25! Here's what happened OUTSIDE of all that:

UNC-Greensboro over NC State 81-76 (Whoopsie)

Gotham Classic:
Louisville over Memphis 81-72

Syracuse over Georgetown 86-79 in OT
(A win for the 'Cuse! But by god, it wasn't easy; maybe Georgetown DOES have something this year.)
Stephan F. Austin over LSU 83-82 (Great win for the Lumberjacks)
Northwestern over DePaul 62-60
UMass over Georgia 62-52 (Honestly, I don't know if this is a "Whoopsie" loss for Georgia or not.)
Illinois State over Ole Miss 101-97 in OT
California over CS-Fullerton 95-89 in OT
St. Bonaventure over Vermont 81-79
Auburn over Middle Tennessee 76-70
Oregon over Fresno State 68-61
Dynegy Shootout: New Mexico State over Illinois 74-69
Hy-Vee Classic:
Iowa State over Northern Iowa 76-65
BYU over Utah 77-65

Phew... Maybe I need to stop this thread on New Year's, the way things are going.

North Carolina vs. Tennessee - Game Summary - December 17, 2017 - ESPN

A fine game from yesterday! And with that, North Carolina can just cruise into Christmas time... Wait, WHAT?! UNC has to play Ohio State on Saturday?

Oh man, it never ends. So let's see if anything else strange happened over the past 2 days:

Sunday:
Arizona State over Vanderbilt 76-64 (Okay, this is now getting scary. Arizona State basketball has NEVER started a season 10-0; something's very wrong.)
Army over Air Force 79-54
Old Dominion over Fairfield 82-77 in OT
Providence over Stony Brook 62-60

Yesterday:
Creighton over UT-Arlington 90-81
Fort Wayne over Indiana 92-72 (Heyyyyy... WAIT A MINUTE! Doesn't this mean that Indiana just lost to Fort Wayne, freaking FORT WAYNE, for the 2nd year in a row?! Didn't Indiana beat Notre Dame 3 days ago?!)
Texas over Tennessee State 47-46 (A near "Whoopsie" loss for Texas.)
SMU over Boise State 86-63

My god... So Indiana just lost to the Fort Wayne Mastrodons. Again. I guess that means that if you sleep on an opponent (especially 'round Christmas time), your NCAA chances could go splat.

Today:
Marshall @ Xavier (6:30)
Game of the Day: South Carolina @ Clemson (7:00)
Buffalo @ Syracuse (7:00)
Binghamton @ Penn State (7:00)
Auburn @ Murray State (8:00)

Furman @ Tennessee (9:00)
Albany @ Louisville (9:00)
Game of the Day: Kansas State @ Washington State (11:00)

12/19 and 12/20 recap

Okay folks, help me out with a question. We have 2 powerhouse teams from the state of North Carolina, who might I add are both in the Top 5. How can one team destroy a 10-win team by 64 points...

Alabama over Mercer 80-79
Missouri over Stephan F. Austin 82-81 (Pretty nice win for Missouri!)
UCLA over South Dakota 85-82
Princeton upsets USC 103-93 in OT

Yesterday:

Big East kicks off conference play today. The other conferences appear to start Friday and Saturday.

If I'm not mistaken the B1G starts its conference tournament in February this year. So, things are going to go quick this year.

If I'm not mistaken the B1G starts its conference tournament in February this year. So, things are going to go quick this year.

Really? Then I'm gonna make a little announcement of my own: On Saturday, I'm shutting this thread down. Mainly because with conference play beginning, the chance to make a good first impression is over. It'll soon be time to forget about impressions and start thinking about battling your rivals to the bitter end. And it'll all start on a crazy Saturday.

But until then, I'll perform my duty: Sifting through all of today's games to give you the ones worth watching: (All times are Eastern)

Today:
Butler @ Georgetown (6:30)

Eastern Michigan @ Syracuse (7:00) (A bounce-back from the Orange is expected here.)

Kentucky only giving 5 was the juiciest bet I've seen this year
