well i said i was going to comment on the flag issue and here are my thoughts

The president has every right to say what he said . it is his opinion and he can say it and offend people just like the players who disrespect our country by sitting or kneeling . (yes its disrespect in my opinion). the players have a right to protest and i defended that right but i also have a right to be goddamned pissed at them for doing it

i dont give a shit about their damn cause when you smear the vets who gave their lives so spoiled ass millionaires can disrespect it . i wont listen to you and i will turn off the TV every goddamn time you do it . this isnt about race , its about respect i dont give a shit when you smear the vast majority of police officers who run toward danger while you flee .

now , if you want to bring awareness to the issue how about a compromise ? stand for the anthem and flag and raise your fist . to me that shows respect for our country and you get the "word " out

you all say" whats the big deal its just a symbol "? well if its just a symbol why get worked up over the confederate flag ? the nazi flag ? confederate statues ? . all of those things are symbols of oppression and our country's flag is far from that . you all would be offended (and rightfully so ) if i flew those flags and you would want them taken down. i wouldnt fly them because my friends would be hurt by it . why cant you give me the same consideration ? and others like me ?

and for god's sake why dont you NFL players research the topic you are protesting ? a police shooting is a vastly rare event . the latest stats from the FBI state that there over 4 mil arrests by the police nationwide . of those there were 450 shootings . thats right 450 shootings . divide 4 mil into 450 and see the infintely small number that is . shootings this year in chicago dwarf this but where is black lives matter on this or the NFL players . far more coverage is given to them over BS then what is happening in the inner cities

did you watch the coverage of this crap ? they showed players bashing away at the president and sports commentators commenting on it without even bringing up what the other side of the issue thought , but that is the media for you all to eager to shove their political views on you even when you want to watch a good game

and lets go further , when that black lives murderous POS show and killed 5 dallas cops who were protecting their asses , so they could protest chanting "fry them like bacon "

when jerry jones wanted to put a sticker on the cowboys helmet honoring the cops the NFL said "NO" its political . seems like that hypocrite roger goodell only allows speech and expression he wants . the truth is you should follow your own bi, laws and allow NO DAMN POLITICS in the game . many fans such as myself dont want politics to enter my game . i give a shit what chris collingsworth has to say about anything except the play on the field

this country has had lots of issues . we have gotten things wrong throughout our history . we have worked hard to correct those things but the fact is no country has accumulated so much power and given back to the world as the USA has . we pay the most money to the UN , we enforce most of their rules around the world . we are there for most any natural disaster . we help with decease throughout the world , we feed and cloth people federally and privately

no country is freaking perfect and neither is ours but i dont see assholes fleeing this country because they are oppressed . most of you have no damn clue about oppression much less a spoiled , entitled athlete who has been pamperd most of his or her life because they were good at athletics

so sorry if i am a little pissed at their disrespect . i am not going to change my stance at all . i have given a reasonable compromise and most of you will disagree with my out right militancy and inflexibility on this but that is how i feel . i have lost too many loved ones and friends who have died for this country and the police officers who have risked their lives daily to be shit on by jerks

First off, you know i respect your opinion Skinsdad.

That being said, the protest deep down isnt just about the shootings, or black lives matter. Its more about the mentality and mindset in this country that require a protest to begin with. Its more about protesting a society that says we are all treated equally, when in fact we are not. I dont agree with HOW they are protesting it, but I do agree with what they are protesting. Because while there were only 450 police shootings last year, I would wager that was still 350 or more than would have been really justified. And NFL players, NBA players, and some other professions are in the unique position to bring light to this sort of thing. I think the real idea was to bring to light that we cant just keep trying to ignore these things.

So the point Keapernick and others were trying to make has been made. Now the question is, does this country sit down and address the issue, or do we again sit back and say, well the system isnt the problem, its those that dont agree with it.

You know I respect your opinion but of the 450 police shootings, like 445 were justified according to the law. I think it is very dangerous for the media to have convinced a truly intelligent man such as yourself that the police force is head hunting.

Honestly, the system as you speak isn't the problem, IMO. Like I always say, if you want to talk about sentencing, I would sit with you all day and pound the table for standardized sentencing.

If you read Jim Brown's opinion before Trump made his comment I agree with Jim. Essentially Brown said stand for the anthem but find a good way to protest and make yourself counted. Clearly the chosen path is divisive so in the end it is polarizing people instead of doing the good that is intended. Most NFL players are great and give time and money to those less fortunate.

JMO but why not try to find a way to protest that does not piss off 50% or more of the population.

Because simply put, people have been protesting these sorts of things for our entire life time. More often than not they are viewed as malcontents and the narrative becomes exactly what it has been. Oh they just want special treatment, what they are doing is against the law. Kaep found a non violent way of getting the idea in front of millions of people every week. In the end it cost him his job.

Again I dont particularly agree with how he choose to protest, but Im all for why he choose to protest.

@gkekoa the concept that the legal system has found 450 police officer shootings as justified is a tad bit of a joke considering that you have one branch of a crooked system deciding that another branch is found non culpable in 90% of these cases. The shootings by and large are just a bye product of a social mentality that we preach equality, but as a country we dont really practice it.

i wont get into what was justified and what wasnt because i have no other facts then what i listed. for the ones that were justified all i can say is follow the instructions of the police . i was stopped and cuffed in LA a few years back because i fit the description of an armed robber who had just committed a crime and shot a few people . i did everything they said , they questioned me , they searched my van , they found no evidence , and they let me go . worst 45 minutes of my life in america

what saved me was i didnt fight back , i did what i was told . police officers dont know what they are walking into . you resist arrest then you are a fool . and literally take your life into your own hands

i have seen at least 3 shootings that appear to me as unjustified and in such cases they should be tried convicted and sentenced for murder (not saying that is all ) but the bast majority of police shooting are justified

why cant you simply raise the fist ? . why are you silent on chicago ?

all of these groups , antifa and black lives matter take money from a former nazi collaborator . i will let you all name him so you will research it

people are being deceived

now i respect your opinions , i wont stop being your freinds because we dont see eye to eye on things . in the end its mostly disrespect for our country and nothing life threatening so it isnt the end of the world

just dont enter my echo chamber called football when i want to get away from the BS raising the fist , to me seems like a fair solution

Yep not arguing his reason or right to protest. The method went south on him and others though. Trump's SOB comment did not help players, owners or Trump.

We turn to sports to get away from the grind .... I just believe a different platform would have served everyone better. :D

See, the last bit is just your opinion.

450 shootings, many of which are suicide by cop, out of 4 million arrests. I believe the shootings are a result of people not wanting to be arrested.

Difference is...I said it is opinion; thus, I said I believe.

And thus I will say, my opinion is, there are entirely too many police shootings where they felt some one was reaching for a weapon and the dead person turned out to NOT have a weapon. And its just coincidental that people who tan instead of burn happen to end up dead in situations like this more often than not.

So I've been following this discussion and have stayed out of it but your latest post sparked a question. I'll preface the question by saying I have no idea what your life, Dad's life or a poor black kid who lives in Chicago's life is like. I don't understand your all's challenges and you don't know mine. SO this question is sincere. In response to your statement about police shootings and the "coincidence" that people of color tend to suffer more from such shootings (which I do believe is true), do you think there is a concerted effort by police to react more violently toward minorities?

Can you quote them? Which ones so I can look them up and become educated?

A concerted effort... no or at least I hope not.

But that being said, I do think for years now it has been socially acceptable for a police officer to gun down persons of color because its assumed that the person of color MUST have done something to bring about that outcome. Now IM not one of those that thinks every time a cop shoots a person of color, its because they happen to not be white. But Im also not going to say that no one ever got stopped for driving while black, walking while brown, or fitting the general description when in fact no crime had been committed. At the end of the day, not every Muslim is a terrorist. Not every person of Latino heritage is an illegal immigrant. And not every black person is a thug drug dealer.

So you kinda imply that the reason why some of these persons of color shooting happen is because its acceptable........I have a hard time understanding this. I can't imagine for most cops that any shooting is personally acceptable and something they would much prefer to avoid. I can only imagine that its a life changing event and not for the good. Are their bad apples? I have no doubt. But I also believe that most aren't.

I also recognize that there is a greater propensity for a black to be pulled over, stopped, etc and when this happens, there is a greater chance that the stop is treated much more cautiously (and could escalate to violence quicker) for a black guy than a white guy. The question I have is why do you think that happens?

I will simply put it this way. If these officers knew they risked life in prison for an unjustified homicide and the system didnt have a habit if justifying these sorts of things, I think there would be less cases of people being gunned down by police officers. And Im not implying, IM saying straight up... the rules are different when it comes to how the legal system and the police treat people of non anglo-saxon heritage. Is it in writing? Nope. But is it and has it been socially acceptable in this country for years?? Yep.

And I don't dispute this. the part I struggle with is the motivation of cops to turn to violence in these situations. I struggle with the implication that cops shoot blacks because "they can get away with it".
