wrong if you sign him to a LTD and he has a bad year this year you cant just cut him. There will be no out clause in Year 1 or 2. KC will not sign that type of contract.

Dean What the Fuck are you talking about no out clause?? IN no language in ANY NFL contract is there anything that prevents a team from cutting a player at ANY time. If they sign him long term, and they find out it doesnt work, they take the cap hit and move one, simple as that. Kind of like they did with Culliver, HAynesworth and countless OTHER contracts that have not worked out in every NFL team actually.

and why would you cut him after a "bad year " ? you give him the following year tp show up again . but again this is horse shit anyway . KC has given no indication he will have a bad year . year 3 in this offense as a starter he should pretty much be a master of it

But the cap hit is astronomical. It would bury us cap wise. Read in between the lines here Shark. Of course you can cut a player at any time but with this new contract it would destroy the cap.

SKinsdad, it has nothing to do with IF Cousins has a bad year. Well scratch that, if he has a BAD year and we have signed him long term, it would probably take us out of the market to try and trade up for one of these 10 elite rookie QBs some people are drooling over. People want us to keep our options open, to keep that dream alive.

Because if we sign Kirk long term and he has another average year like the last two, there is a pretty good chance we dont look at QB in the first or second round next year. And with 10 elite QBs in one draft, we cant have that now can we??

Im not saying he would have a bad year. You cant predict the future. What if there is a major injury? Why take the chance when you don't have to? That is all Im saying.

Again Dean, I call Bullshit. I have shown you countless times, the Colts could have cut Luck, and it wouldnt have destroyed their cap. And lets be honest, Kirk would have to have the worst year of ANY QB in the NFL for him to get cut after one year on a LTD. So are you saying you expect him to have a 10 TD 20INT season??

you cant use a previous deal to support your argument. You don't know how KC's deal would be worked out. no. Im not expecting him to have a bad year.

b/c it covers our ass if he fails. I don't see how we can lose him if he ahs a great year. You still have three ways to bring him back in 2018. This is all moot b/c he is not going to sign.

Does logic ever even factor into your thinking before you hit the post reply button??

You cant use past deals as a frame of reference as to how things work in the NFL, and yet you are using past deals as the measure of how much Kirk should get paid. Also as the measure of how good a QB he is or in fact WILL BE going forward.

Dean, if you would just come out and say, IM not really a fan of Cousins, and these rookie QB have got me all excited, we would probably ease up and I would have gained respect for at least one person having the balls to admit they are hoping we dont sign him long term.

that is not the case at all. Contracts gets worded differently every year. you are wrong. You are over glorifying the risks of losing him next year.

Again unless you expect a catastrophic failure, there is no need to cover our asses as you say. I dodnt see Dallas panic and bail on Romo after ANY of his season ending injuries. Yet you think the Skins should be primed and ready to hit the abort button at a moments notice?? Speaks volumes as to the level of confidence you really have in Cousins.

Of course there is a need. This is going to be one of the richest contracts in NFL history. You have to be careful here. You are treating this situation like its a middle of the road contract. IF the same thing happens this year like last year. Gaudy numbers but bad decision making and bad losses you could see the abort button being played out.

Why? B/c of the draft. They don't want to commit a huge amount of money to an average QB. If we are picking in the top 12 next year it would be b/c of KC. I don't see this defense being bad this year. Heck, we had a bad defense last year and they still won us some games that KC could not close out of.

So you are of the opinion that we missed the playoffs more because Kirk made a few mistakes, more so than the defense being one of the worst in the league?? Got it. glad you repeated that line of bullshit for the umpteen thousandth time. You didnt see the defense being bad last year either. Most of our BAD losses were due to the defense getting plowed through on a damn near weekly basis. As many have suggested, you need to let the Giants game go Dean. Because if you are seriously basing your entire view point off of one loss, then you have no real objectivity on Kirks year as a whole.

Missing the point again regarding the defense. Im not going back those posts again. Its been proven how this defense kept this team in the playoff hunt. The biggest game of the year they had there biggest game of the year. lol. The Giants game is a big deal. Especially when his coach rips him after it. Also, watch the Carolina game again. A lot of things contributed to us not making the playoffs. But when you are hyping KC to be the greatest thing since sliced bread he should be winning these games and should be held to a higher standard.

Again, who has ever said he was the greatest QB ever. He does make more sense than going, hey we can go get one of these rookies who stand a 75% chance of failure. After all it would save us cap space and put us back into the we need a QB desperation mode again. Great plan. The Giants game became a big deal because the defense gave away just as many games as they "saved".

There you go speculating again. You have no idea what can happen next offseason. The contract that he is going to ask for or get he deserves to be held at a higher standard. The Giants game is a big deal b/c if he dominated them we wouldn't even be having these conversations. The point of "he cant win the big game" is sticking with him.

I see why the team is saying let this year play out. I don't think a LTD will get done by 7/15. You can disagree but I believe it wont happen.

If the Carr and Staford deals get done before 7/15 that could make a difference but I don't think he gets his deal done
