These are, in my opinion- the worst contracts in basketball---- some because the player is useless (Deng, Mozgov), some because they are wildly overpayed for being a mediocre player (Tyler Johnson) or some for the sheer huge number of their deal- like 4 years 142 for blake griffen

1. Blake Griffen- 4 years 142M
2. Luol Deng- 2 years 39M
3. Chandker Parsons- 2 years 50M
4. Joakim Noah- 2 years 39M
5. Hassan Whiteside- 2 years 52M
6. Gorgeiu Dieng- 3 years 49M
7. Danilo Gallianari- 3 years 65M
8. Mike Conley- 3 years 97M
9. Tyler Johnson- 2 years 38M
10. Serge Ibaka- 2 years 45M
11. Evan Turner- 2 years 37M
12. Ryan Anderson- 2 years 41M
13. Paul Milsap- 2 years 60M
14. Tim Hardaway Jr.- 3 years 57M
15. Timo Mozgov- 2 years 33M
16. Ian MAhimi- 2 years 32M
17. Carmelo Anthony- 1 year 28M
18. Nik Batum- 3 years 77M
19. Tony Snell- 3 years 33M
20. Omer Asik- 2 years 23M
21. Meyers Leonard- 2 years 22M
22. Bismack Biyombo- 2 years 34M
23. Kent Bazemore- 2 years 37M
24. Tristan Thompson- 2 years 36M
25. Andre Iguadala- 2 years 33M

Honorable Mentions and sheer HUGE contracts:

John Wall 4 years 142M
Jrue Holiday 4 years 105M
Gordon Hayward 3 years 97M
Otto Porter Jr. 3 years 82M
Steven Adams 3 years 76M
Jeff Teague 2 years 38M
Alan Crabbe 2 years 39M
George Hill 2 years 37M

I don't agree that Griffin is the worst contract in basketball. While it is the biggest contract, Griffin provides value at least when he is on the court.

I also think the Gallinari contract is too high on your list. As is Mike Conley.

There is a difference between injured players don't meeting their expectations and horrible players getting paid ridiculous amounts of money.

Tristan Thompson is way too low. And Alan Crabbe definitely deserves higher than honorable mention. And where the heck is JR Smith?

IMO, the worst contracts out there are..

1 Luol Deng - NEarly $20 million a year to keep a seat warm for a non-playoff team is just atrocious
2. Joakim Noah - See above except he does occasionally make a cameo
3. Tim Mozgov - See above
4. Chandler Parsons - He should probably be higher on the list but I honestly never watch the Grizzlies.
5. Evan Turner - A straight up paycheck thief. Honestly there are several players who could take this spot as paycheck thieves.

JR is expiring next year--- well not quite--- he makes 14.7M next year- and the year after only 4M is guaranteed

with all the terrible contract - basically 1 year for JR smith was not even near the worst going around.

if there were ANY team options i did not include them--- this is only guaranteed money or player options that are almost without a doubt being pickedu p.

i am not counting this year since its basically over.

and that JR Smith is 15.68 is only partially guaranteed....very little of it is guaranteed.

as I said- any non-guaranteed team options i left off as they would be very unlikely to be picked up- as opposed to player options that would be very likely to pick up.

its why i actually looked stuff up rather than talking out of my ass

2 years 26 for Clarkson is definitely not good but its HARDLY anywhere near one of the worst 30 contracts in basketball.

Clarkson's contract is OK value, he just hasn't fit in with the Cavs as hoped yet. Of course, that deal was also signed in the dreaded summer of '16, as were many of the OP's bad contracts.

Based off of sheer production too, Omer Asik still needs to be a top 5 worst contract in basketball. There's a difference between being overpaid for what you provide and just flat out garbage.

dude i looked at it and tried to get it on there but hte dolar values are just not there

I guess I just look at player production in relationship to their contract as my metric. I can't argue having a guy like Conley up there, but I'd much rather pay him 30M a year than Solomon Hill 12.5. Same goes for guys like Blake Griffin, Whiteside, Millsap, etc.

That's why I think guys like Meyers Leonard, Asik, and Hill should be higher on the list than others.

i can understand that
it just blows me away that griffin is gonna make an average of 35M a year for the next 4 years.

Yeah not ideal. Stan Van Gundy's parting gift to the Pistons.

Lmfao....

Whiteside ahead of Gallo?

Blake's deal is bad because of the years left.

But, I'd take a roster full of Blake's over Noah or Deng.

if Blake was generally healthy i would not have him on the list---- but an avg. of 35M a year AND the fact that he gets hurt quite a bit.....thats rough.

Griffin's contract is up there in the league but I don't think it's the worst in the sport. He's a solid player. Looking at that list I'd say Deng.

The Cavs just did not have the time to integrate Hood and Clarkson like they wanted to.

When the playoffs rolled around they went with the established guys that had been there in Korver and JR instead of the younger more athletic guys.

If LeBron stays I fully expect Clarkson, Hood if he is back, and Nance Jr. all to make much bigger impacts next year.

Nance Jr. really impresses me at times. He is such a hard worker, he is agile but also big enough to guard multiple positions....

Honest to God i thought Hood was going to be a great acquisition when it happened but the combination of him being SO passive, some injuries he had, and the shortened time frame really hurt him and his confidence.

The CAvs really could use Clarkson and some instant offense right now.

the guys that are totally worthless who never play like the Deng's, Asik's, Mozogov's, Meyers Leonard, etc. are the really really bad ones---
