Good post Husker. Murray has been training in the off season with ultimate fighter types since drafted I don't think he's changed anything with regards to offseason work outs and preparation for the coming season. I do think injuries are more often than not just real bad luck. It's not a flaw in the player, but I'm a Sean Lee nut hugger so I'd think the same about a quality dedicated player like Murray as well. Not saying you are trashing Murray but I strongly buy in to what Garrett is saying about the type of player they want.

Thought it was interesting that this week Red J, Romo and Murray took a field trip to Duke to visit with coach K.

Couple that with the three being seen earlier at an SMU basketball game and I'd say there is still hope.

I've said along his two biggest fans are the two JJ seems to trust the most with his team. Someone mentioned earlier in the yr that Murray may want to distance himself from Romo and be on another team. I have no idea where that thought came from.

I really think the media is as irresponsible as they could ever be and pretty much make um up as they go.
That guy that busted on Dez two weeks ago about nothing at all should be fired on the spot but that'll never happen

While it is true that RB's who can run well, especially behinds the Cowboys OLine, are a dime a dozen, but finding one who can run well and are good in pass protection is relatively hard. Theres many guys out their who dont have starting jobs cause they are a liability in protecting the QB in passing situations. THis is one of the reasons that it will be harder for Dallas to replace Murray and Philly to replace McCoy then most people think.

Do any of you want Trent Richardson? I have a draft guide that says, "A sure fire star with all the tools. Pretty much a cant miss prospect." Finding good, well rounded RB's aren't as easy as many people are saying IMO.
That ''can't miss'' has missed in two different places lol. I'd be real disappointed if we went into the season with Richardson as the lead runner

It will all depend on how much Murray wants. With him saying he will sign with Dallas for a little less as long as the offer is close to another there a good chance he back in Dallas. Not sure what Murray means by similar contracts but if another team beat Dallas by .5M a year for two more years he's taking the money. If any vet costs more than 5M a season I say go the draft route.

then your team will always be an also-run

Two things. One the whole Columbus thing was a mistake. I clicked on the Cowboys, never checked that the puter decided it wanted to insert the blue jackets. Rest assured I am 100% a Cowboy fan.

Two. Over paying vets has kept my team the Cowboys as also-rans.

oveerpaying bad vets is what has kept the Cowboys down. when it comes to signing good vets you need to go higher than 5M

I'd like to see how Dallas can give Murray or any other back 5M as they currently sit right now. Dallas CANNOT give Murray any where near that.

Why do you say that? They could give Murray that if they wanted. He won't take it which is the problem

Per ESPN. "With the salary cap set at $143.28 million for 2015, the Dallas Cowboys officially have a cap of $148,298,313, according to ESPN’s Stats & Information.

That gives them $19.15 million in cap room, but that does not include the $12.823 million franchise tag tender for Dez Bryant.

So the closer number is $6.328 million in room, but that does not take into account possible restricted free-agent tenders or money to sign the draft picks."

This was before Beasley signed, granted he's not breaking the cap. but they still have a couple of LB's to sign and pay the rookies. I'm not saying there is no way Murray resigns but if another team offers 5M for 5 years I doubt Dallas gets close enough for Murray to return.

They would do 5 for 5 in a second IMO. Problem will be if Murray is looking at 5 and $40 plus.

You very well could be right but I have a feeling they offered a deal closer to three years for about 4-4.5 per. I don't thing Dallas wants to give Murray a 5 year deal.

Now if the team can get Dez signed freeing up money they could go over 5 per but I think it will be a short contract.

Dallas could easily clear enough money to resign Murray to as high a bid as anyone who signs him. They could clear $25 million with 4-5 moves. It's not a matter of being able to clear the space, it's a matter of do they want to commit that much money to a RB that will be 32 at the end of a 5 year deal

I heard the Cowboys initial offer was 4 years at $6 million per, I'm guessing they would have a drop dead point at 5 years at $8 million per. They could even give him a 5 -6 year at $9 million per, but it would be a deal where he'd be cut in a few years and the club's total payout would be the same $30-35 million in actual money

Plug in any RB behind that great OL and he'll get over a 1000 yards.

The best bet would be to draft a RB.

My hope is that other teams might question how Murray would fair behind their line.
But you could say 2013 kills that argument.

only the garrenteed $$'s matter

Totally agree. Meant more ithat if he was only looking for around $5M per year we could basically give him most of it guaranteed and he'd already have been signed.
