Week 1: Broncos vs Panthers

Good videos @58crash, thanks. I am so PUMPED for this game! It's about time football is starting again.

Our LBs are going to be key in this game. Our DBs should have excellent coverage all game, which will lead to Cam breaking out of the pocket and running. If he can get past the LBs, he will have some huge runs, possibly long TD runs, since our DBs backs will be turned away from him. Our D needs to keep him from converting more than 1 or 2 1st downs, or scoring, with his feet. If we can do this, our offense should be able to do enough to win this game.

Offensively, it is going to be interesting to see how our O-line and QB perform. It's hard to really offer much of a prediction here, other than if our O-line doesn't perform then we will have no idea of what we have at QB, until they do. So we will need production, cohesion, etc. from the O-line before we can really see what we have in Siemian. It's hard to say what we'll see out of them today. Fortunately, we have a great coaching staff that will put together a great game plan to utilize what we can do well. We may see a heavy dose of designed roll-outs to give Siemian more time to make throws.

I see it the same way. I'm most nervous about the O-line. For some reason, I think Siemian can play extremely well if our line can protect him from Carolina's ferocious front and can get our run game going.

And C. This is just one game. Long season ahead so no reason to get too high or too low from this game. Offensively we are a team still working to find our identity and that might take a few games. I hope it happens tonight but win or lose this game does not decide our season.

Interesting story about how the Broncos were trying at one point to trade for Keenum from the Rams but in the end were impressed enough by Siemian that they backed out of the deal. I'm really really hoping he shocks some people tonight.

So am I. I gave him a generous line in my prediction for the game because I think the Broncos may not play it close to the chest the way everyone expects they will. OTOH, it wouldn't surprise me if they did just that and Siemian was under 200 passing yards. Bottom line: all I care about is the win. But as you and I have both said now, a loss doesn't mean the season is over. It's just one loss. Likewise a win doesn't mean we can pencil in another SB run.
