+1 to the comments above, happy to have these young guys in the program and seeing how their careers develop. Thanks to all the guys who contribute useful information to this thread and others, so that guys like myself can keep in touch with the program. A+ job as always for the recruiting threads. :thumb:

Even though VT whiffed on the in-state 5 stars, they had a pretty good recruiting class this year.

THAT is what I tried to say in my post, above.

They need to do it again next year. If they can start to pull in more 5 star talent, more power to them. I think they realize how important recruiting is. Part of recruiting is not losing those close, winnable games. Part of recruiting is winning the big game once in a while.

Then again, I think Beamer knows that, and has taken steps to improve the offense. Like I said earlier, they need to fix the miscues and problems on special teams. There were some pretty inexcusable screw ups this year. We saw this year in the Alabama-Auburn game and Super Bowl that those screw ups can happen to anyone, but we also saw what happens to even the best teams when those things happen.

I don't have time to get into it right now but there is a grocery cart full of inaccuracies and flat out BS in that article. Ugh. GC tries to be edgy but in many cases is just wrong.

This much at least is true.

Durkin looks the part very big and fast for someone his size. Throws a nice ball better then people said he did this guy is going to play early and help.

Interesting Summary? I'd like to know the theory behind VT's recruiting strategies, because non of it seems to be very thought out and effective. Seems VT's recruiting coordinator has done a poor job recruiting and a poor job coordinating.

"Scot Loeffler: A-
Shane Beamer: A-
Aaron Moorhead: B+
Jeff Grimes: A-
Bryan Stinespring: F
Bud Foster: B
Charley Wiles: B+
Cornell Brown: A
Torrian Gray: C"

I think Gray was very instrumental with the Fla kids, Stroman, and then some.

Shane is losing his luster ... And this asshat must be in with the WP, what about the fact that Jefferson did not qualify do these morons not understand. Who would "flip" from VT to Temple?? Does he not knw about the UVA 757 relationships?? Anyone on this forum could have written a better article than that.

I had a pretty spirited debate with the new writer the other day. Since it's changed hands I've been kinda like "Do you even watch Hokie football" with some of the comments the guy makes on twitter and some of the articles. Definitely not impressed with them.

Did I chime in on that? I got into it with him a couple times too.

Quite possibly. He just kept railing on us probably not getting Nnadi before Nnadi decided and was talking about lack of depth at DL and moving Smith and Teller back to DL. He was talking like Smith had no chance of making OL and I mentioned that Grimes even said when he left that he thought Smith had the best chance of cracking the starting rotation this year of everyone.

I said then and I'll say now I'm more concerned over DE depth than I am DL depth. I like the guys we have but I'm not 100% sure the DE's are completely ready to play with the discipline that they need to for Bud's scheme to work.

dadi needs to tighten up. if he can do that, we'll be fine. he's a beast but tries to do too much sometimes and takes himself out of plays

That's my biggest concern is his over pursuit and not staying home at times. I mean he's a beast, but there are times when you have to play your position and stay home instead of attack attack attack.
