Bayside!!!!! Awesome to see we can get in there. Big news.
Reads like Burden played a big role in potentially opening up Bayside. He was recruiting Patterson when he was at ODU and stayed with him.
Per our old buddy Evan, Jimmie Taylor (DE) to the Hokies!
Jimmie Taylor, Southwest, Weak-Side Defensive End
FINALLY! We pick up a recruit. It's been so slow or maybe it just seems that way since @vtfan15 and @hokiegrad aren't around giving updates.
Khalil Ladler, IMG Academy , Cornerback
4star/3star (depending on the service) DB out of Florida.
3 star Wideout Philip Patterson decommitted.
Had to expect some of these guys would do so with Beamer's retirement
Yeah, there will be more. Can't blame any of them for opening up their recruitment. But depending on who next man up is, they may even be in a better situation, so don't jump the gun and burn your bridges young fellas!
I expect us to end the class up with a bang once we get the new guy on. Wouldn't surprise me if we got back up into the Top 25 by signing day.
4 star DB Tony Pride reopened his recruiting. The statement he gave made it sound like he's very open to returning but just wants to see who the coach is
Not a huge surprise. Pride seemed to be snooping around even before Beamers announcement. Not a bad idea to keep your options open. I imagine this class will see a lot if changes between now and February.
Bound to happen, but sucks. Patterson and Pride were two of the only guys in this trash class I was excited about.
Most important recruiting work now is Whit's
Coach Fuente already throwing out offers...looks like an under the radar guy with top end speed.
Kyle Mayberry, Booker T. Washington , Cornerback
With the Wolfolk flip, VT is currently ranked 51 by 247. It sounded like we could have some redshirt juniors leaving after the bowl, so we might have a handful of additional offers to give out. Anyone know numbers?? 20 commits this year doesn't sound of the realm of possibility??
Anyone want to predict an where we end up on signing day? I think we will see recruiting take off immediately. I will say we end up just outside the Top 25 at 30.
Do we expect any late recruiting season surprises now that we've got Fuente in the fold? Too late in the game to matter? Any chance we still manage to get a top-25 recruiting class?
I think we will be pleasantly surprised with Fuente's efforts. My guess is we will creep into the Top 30 but Fuente will find some of the under the radar kids that fit his system. He appears to be more of a developer of talent but that being said, I fully expect to see less recruiting misses with kids that have us listed as favorites or being high on their list. His work speaks for itself...
Philip Patterson is back in!
LB Victor Greene decommitted though it also sounds like VT was gonna pull his offer. Probably best for him because it sounds like he's more interested in RB anyway
Several solid prospects in town this weekend, including a highly ranked 4 star JUCO (Jerrod Evans) and a stud LB from Maryland (Keith Simms) . Looks like Fuente is gonna take some JUCOs here or there. I am smelling a commit or two in the next few days.
Good nose. Evans Committed.
Evans looks like he could be very good. Wonder if Lawson redshirts (if he still can)
If Evans is truly the real deal and unless Lawson wins the job, I might expect DL to redshirt. Evans only has two years of eligibility. DL technically has 4 with a RS.
TJ Jackson (OT 6'8" 320!!!!! lb) commits to the good guys.
That's a big boy. If he's got some skill to go along with that size, he's gonna be a monster. Imagine how huge he's gonna be once he gets in our strength program
