agree with 46. I think we keep Harrison. You can't read too much into what he says on twitter. Even if he wanted to go to FSU, I'm not sure that he's a high priority or if they have room for him.

I don't feel great about landing Nnadi but I think he's in the same boat wrt FSU. There's just not much chatter going on from FSU and he seems to be barely on the radar. FSU has 5 DTs committed so far in 2014 and a 4* DT already committed for 2015. I may be wrong -- I just don't see it. Doesn't seem to be a lot of interest from Ohio State (maybe I'm wrong there too). If there was, I'd be a lot more worried about him.

Taylor -- I hope we can keep him. I think if we can keep Grimes from leaving, I'd call it 60/40 tOSU. If he leaves though, so will Brady, without a doubt. IIWII -- Kid grew up in Columbus and is a tOSU. Despite the fact that he's their plan Z (read somewhere that they offered 30~ish OL before him), they'll be hard to beat out. If we can keep him, I will be REALLY impressed with Grimes's recruiting abilities. Regardless, if we want to hold on to Grimes, we'd better sweeten the pot.

I have been following recruiting since I went to Tech back in 2003. To this day I still do not understand the minds of some of these young kids. If I were a player (4 to 5 star) I would want to go to a team that I know I have a good chance of starting from year one or two. So many kids go to these powerhouse teams and waste 3-4 years on the bench with one year to prove themselves for the nfl. Why wouldnt you want to go to a team and be THE guy instead of being just another guy. But as we have shown over the past many years of losing highly rated recruits, they dont amount to much elsewhere most of the time.

Here's the way I see it. First, these guys think they will play wherever they go. They have a certain athletic arrogance/confidence. It's part of what makes many of them excel in the first place. Take Korren Kirven. Why did he pick Alabama over VT? I have no idea as I don't know the guy but here are reasons I could see him having:

Again, assume he thinks he'll play and be, at minimum, 2 year starter.
He selected a school that is pumping out first round draft picks. His head coach is a superstar in the college football world. That superstar came to personally visit him in Virginia.

He picked a school that plays in the greatest conference in the land. He will participate in his 4-5 years in many games that have more national relevance and more excitement than he ever would in 4 years at VT. Had he signed with VT he would have played 4 years, likely without redshirting. In 2012-13, VT has played in 2 games that felt "big". One was last year's home game against FSU, which didn't have a full house but was exciting and felt "big" The other was the opener in Atlanta against Bama. Kirven was there, of course. Kirven redshirted last year but was part of a program that won the SEC championship and national championship. VT will have no conference nor national championships in the 4 years he would have attended. This year alone, Kirven participated in several games that were bigger than what he would ever see in 4 years at VT. At Texas A&M was built up the entire offseason. Of course, the Iron Bowl is a game no one will forget. The LSU game was intense and one that he'll get to play in for 4 years. At VT he would not play at Clemson or FSU, the only schools in which a road game would have a SEC-like atmosphere.

The Sugar Bowl Bama just played in is a level of bowl game that VT will not see during the 2012-15 football seasons.

The VT game at Ohio State and the Labor Day night game against Ohio State will be cool but even those won't compare to the intensity of the SEC conference games he has and will play in.

I will say, he likely would see more snaps at VT than he will at Alabama.

I'll grant that Kirven will play in more big games at Bama, because the regular season has more big games. This is something that the ACC has to do something about, and apparently they're at least going to try. Can't happen fast enough.

I can't agree that "[t]he Sugar Bowl Bama just played in is a level of bowl game that VT will not see during the 2012-15 football seasons". Unless you have a crystal ball, how are you so sure that VT won't make a comparable bowl in the next two years? VT could be very good in 2015, especially. We'll have to wait and see, of course.

In the end, where a kid decides to go depends on so many things and every kid is going to look at things a little differently. Some are better at assessing where is best for them than others. Etc. For better or worse, it's their choice and every school just has to make their best pitch and see where the cards fall. If a kid goes somewhere other than VT, best wishes to them, as long as they didn't jerk us around. I know VT was the best school for me and I can't imagine having gone to another school, but that's me. I know what they'll be missing, but maybe they wouldn't have appreciated it as much as I did for some reason, or would have missed something I didn't care about, or who knows. As I said, best wishes to them.

Could be wrong but I don't think any of us here have been recruited so its hard to relate to what goes into a kid's mind. But imagine it as you're just some average joe and all these at these attractive girls start coming after you trying to get in your pants. You got this nice little hottie that's an 8 out of 10 (VT) that you like. You'll have a lot of chances with her and you're content. But then this smokeshow 10 out of 10 gives you a wink (Bama). Sure, she's hitting up lots of other dudes and you won't have as many chances with her as you would with the 8, but man, its a smokeshow 10! She's the total package. Even if it doesn't work out the way you intended, you can always say you hooked up with a 10.

BTW, to complete the comparison, UVA is what happens when you get slammered at a party and take home what you think is an 8. But then you wake up the next morning disgusted with yourself because you picked up a 4.

This is one of the greatest metaphors I have ever heard haha.

I don't disagree with this statement...

Larry Johnson was Derrick Nnadi's primary recruiter at Penn State, could help the Bucks chances with the 2014 4-star DT
— John Brandon (@JBrandon11W) January 14, 2014

on the flip side, pretty much destroys Penn State's chances

Maybe... Maybe not. We can think that but let's not call kids liars when they're talking about something we can't know.

Probably so. But I have heard/read there may have been some ??? on what kind of offer it would be, regular enrollment or GS. Nothing definite, just chatter. Plus If anyone could have kept him on I think that guy was Grimes.. especially if tOSU offer wasn't a regular enrollment. But yeah, 95% he is gone now I bet.

Javon Harrison's dad is going around telling people that his son is going to FSU. Javon points out that his dad wasn't there earlier in his life and didn't care what was going on and asks why he cares now.

247 lists him at a 4.29 40. it is probably really like a 4.4, maybe a high 4.3 but either way that is fast

Haha. Bilingual Hooplites...

Any new news on Harrison? Wasn't/Isn't he visiting FSU soon.

I'll take that tweet. Sounds like it isn't necessarily a done deal (to FSU) yet.
