shaka smart, bruce pearl, wichita state coach, jeff capel, chris collins. not necessarily in any order, but shaka and pearl are my two favorites.

Pearl is a greaseball. Plus, I don't think he can even coach until 2014. I think he's banned and also has like a 5 year show clause.

I'd hope our players and commits stay. They should at least wait and see who the coach is before leaving. There's more to VT than just Greenberg. Hopefully they can all see that.

I'm not sure what to make of Allen and T-bell's comments. Interesting to say the least. Part of me thinks its just Allen being a jackass (he never struck me as a pleasant dude) but part of me wants to believe him. I know Delaney was beefing pretty hard with Seth during his final year as well. If you take these comments and toss in all our player transfers, one could draw a not so pleasant portrait of Greenberg. Not saying its true, just something to think about.

Are there more Curry sons? Even if there are, I don't think a coach with no experience is a good choice.



Of course one of Seth's biggest missteps was underestimating a Curry... so...

I like the bolded choices. A lot. Really like Capel and I doubt we get Smart since he's been turning other jobs down. I don't think we're high-profile enough for him to jump ship. Not sure about the others... no on Pearl. Great recruiter, good coach... but I don't think that would look good for us. I guess UK and WVU have done pretty well bringing in coaches dripping with controversy, but Weaver doesn't seem like the type to do that.

I think Gregg Marshall would be a good hire.
I also think James Johnson would be very good for the continuity of the program (not losing recruits/current players). I assume he left basically because he wants to be a head coach somewhere and was sick of Seth, both would allow him to be our coach. He's a great recruiter and the kids like him.

I don't know a lot abou basketball other than I enjoy watching it, but I would agree on Johnson as a good guy to keep the guys together from this recruiting class.

VT doesn't have a whole lot of options, so this might work. He has no head coaching experience, but could be a stop gap for right now since we'll probably be changing coaches once Weaver retires, which is probably sooner rather than later. I doubt we see any head coaches leaving their program to come to VT with the idea of a new AD coming in soon, unless we throw money their way, which we won't. Johnson may be receptive to the idea because it allows him to gain coaching experience and possibly receive an extension at VT, even though there is little security right now.
