So I went out golfing on Friday and shot well but not what I wanted. I was slicing my driver and/or snap-hooking it.

Last night I came home and looked up tips for straightening out the driver and I came across this short video. It's a cool easy little trick and it's gold!

Today I went out and shot 34, 34, 39, 35. Most importantly, I was bombing my driver about 310 right down the middle of the fairway.

Good find.

One thing in his video that I do as part of my preshot routine is turn the left foot out slightly towards the target and then move the right foot into position...that does automatically puts the ball position in the same place every time.

Actually driving it quite well, but not 300+...I need better iron play to start shooting scores in the 30s consistently for 9 holes.

I've always crushed my driver, but I go through these spells where I start duck hooking and I mean it's awful.

I go from around a 1 handicap golfer to a 6 or 7 real quick. Which I know is still good, but I play a lot of golf. It's my favorite hobby and I put a lot of time into it. This video may pay off big time for me.

Damn right it's still very good...I go from pretty good (8) to about 15 when it goes south. I'm 270-280 off the tee with an occasional 300+ drive...from my tee box roughly (6500 yds)...I have a lot of shortish irons in...should be hitting more than 6 or 7 GIR which is what I'm averaging lately.

I do decently with my driver but 3/4th of the way it slices to the right...Sometimes a direct hook right sometimes it is a very subtle right.... Which most of the times is fine because the course I normally play on has really no OBs... except the 1st and 7th on the right. I will have to try this however since I haven't been able to play once this year and I am sure I'd be terrible

Nah, that's not a slice, it's called a Power Fade!

At least, that's what i tell myself every time I do it...

HAHAHA! True I try to tell myself that.... I've tried everything to fix it (well until I saw the video) and nothing seems to work.

If you can play the next shot...it's all good imo.

I played a draw for a long time and I can still turn it over if I need to but I prefer a fade...I hit it far enough for my tee box, and I can control it better...when a draw turns into a duck hook it's way worse than a slice imo. Aim down the left side of the fairway and peel it back about 20 yds...thing of beauty imo....well anything that hits the fairway really is a beauty...even a worm burner!

Interesting. Did you use the decoy tee on the course though? Isn't that illegal?

No I never used the decoy. That was the only part I didn't do. Just made sure I didn't let my body move at all.

I had it going for a couple of weeks. 270-280 is a good drive for me when I hit it right but I'm way too inconsistent. It's back to about 250 lately with me flying it a little bit. Fairway wood is going great. Getting 240 off the deck no problem and dead straight.

One thing that helps me is the tennis ball drill. Just put one like 4-5 inches behind the tee and make sure you get the top of the tennis ball on the back swing. I've been doing the dice drill as well (3 balls diagonally) to get a nice inside-out swing. But it's gone to shit again so I've just been driving with my 5 wood most of the time.

Didn't work for me, but it sure helped the Mrs. ....added about 20 yards to her drive.

Wow. When he was talking about the things people do that mess up their shots, he perfectly described my swing

I'm gonna have to get to the range and give these a try. Great video.

For those of us with helpless "duck hook and slice in the woods" drives...never under estimate the power of the "foot wedge", probably the most under-valued club in the bag today.

Same. I know for a fact I am terrible at lining up consistently when I pull out the driver. I'll be sure to give this a shot

I tried it as well. I left the club head on the ground about 4 inches behind the ball to start my swing. It felt weird to start the backswing from there but I'll be dmaned if I wasn't crushing it down the middle. Pretty cool.

Here is another tip that for some reason did wonders for me (granted I am not at the level of some of you). I am not sure what it is about this tip, but it helped me hit it straighter, longer & more consistently with all of my clubs especially the longer ones.
