By my count, we've got 8/9 players on the last year of their contracts. So the ship will kind of unload itself at seasons end.

I know that but I'm remembering what JD is advocating. He said Darvish is not being traded so if he intends to see this thing through what is the point? Try and win. I'm not opposed to unloading if JD chooses to do so but seems he sees it different so what's the point to looking ahead? He surly has something brewing under his hat.

There will be no return for what is unloaded at the end of the year. Darvish, Lucroy, Gomez, Cashner, and Ross will all walk away freely. As far as guys under contract beyond this year then the mindset of not giving up on 2018 will set in and it will be too early to give up on them all over again.

It has been a long time now since this club has won a playoff series. The plan is not working if "working" is defined as winning a championship.

I get what you are saying but it's been indicated Darvish is hands off according to JD. That being the case why would Ross, Cashner be on the trade list?

I get the impression he sees a team which is coming together and can make a 2nd half run.

But we'll see how this shakes out over the next few weeks. Might get interested and equally frustrating at the same time.
