The Giants lead baseball by a good margin with 13 bunt hits in 2023. Their .542 batting average on bunts ranks as the 4th-best mark in the majors. This has been especially useful for left-handed bats if third base is playing off of the line.

Average is about as worse as it can be. No good draft pick and dont make the playoffs.
You realize we have been below average for over a month... right?

If i could I'd change the thread title to, "Things Are Looking Up..." .

Stop me if I'm wrong... but aren't we a playoff team as of right now...?

There's a long way to go, duh, but, again, things could be worse.

It's interesting how well some of the pitchers we did not keep (Shelby Miller, Andrew Vasquez, Alex Young, Gregory Santos) have performed this year. Even Luis Ortiz has a 2.70 ERA in 10 appearances for Philadelphia.

Here is a fun fact that you can use the next time you're at a party. Since Camilo Doval was called up for good in September of 2021, he has won 3 NL Reliever of the Month awards. That's 9 baseball months since then and he has won 33% of those awards.

Hard to think of who's a better closer in the game right now. Maybe the guy on the Mets who's out for the year?

Doesn’t being out for the year pretty much eliminate you from the conversation for “right now”?

I would put Doval in the discussion, along with…

Diaz
Hader
Bednar
Williams
Robertson

Put a gun to my head, I think I would place Doval as #4 on that list. But the fact he is the youngest of the bunch, I would probably take him first in a dynasty draft.

3 game win streak would be really nice right now...

Pirates and Orioles both 15 games over .500 !!!

ChiSox 9 games under... :(

I know it is still "early" in the season, but I did not expect the Diamondbacks to be tied for first in the division with the Dodgers. And the Padres really are underperforming. That team cannot seem to buy a break.

Agreed.

Pads collapse is very surprising.

I wouldn't say it is surprising, especially for the Padres. That franchise seems snake bit and buying a championship does not always work. They've still got time to pull it out though.

Yeah the Dodgers seem to be underperforming expectations this year and while the DBacks were considered to be on the rise, this seems kind of accelerated. Kind of like the Rangers, they were supposed to be pretty good but now they have the best record to this point in franchise history.
