If Baylor had scheduled a better OOC opponent, they would have lost that game, gone 10-2, and would have been out of the playoffs anyway.

Why am I the only one who seems to get this???

It's not the OOC, it's not the lack of a CCG -- it's losing a game to a shitty-assed West Virginia.

TCU's problem is, they lost a game to a team that lost to West Virginia.

So the problem, as we can all clearly see, is West Virginia. Now that Luck is no longer the AD, look for them to get kicked to the curb. 10 teams, 9 teams, no big difference.

TCU also barely beat WVU.

Baylor didn't miss playoffs because of lack of CCG. They played KSU on last week of season.
Baylor didn't miss playoff because of bad OOC. They still had best win to tOSU's worst loss.
Baylor missed playoffs because Committee had a chance to put in a big name school instead of them.

Having said that... Baylor can take that chance away from the Committee by beating some power 5 OOC teams... but it's not a guarantee that would help. I doubt if Baylor beating Cal or Iowa or VT would have kept tOSU from jumping them... but , yes, they can try, and they will... because the 4-Team Scheme incentivises them to do so.

Meh, they're still not named Ohio State, so probably no chance.

TCU also barely beat WVU.

We scored exactly 4 minutes into the game. That means there was 56 minutes of someone holding the lead.

WVU lead for about 52 1/2 minutes, TCU about 3 1/2 minutes. We still lost.:L

The new Big 8 can become a Basketball Conference or something.
Unless Kansas bails too.

That GOR is really not that ironclad.
It is designed to promote stability, but it is easily challenged. At its roots, it is still a contract subject to contract law.

In reality, Texas or Oklahoma could leave if they paid compensatory damages for a breach. A GOR would be punishment damages which no court will ever uphold.

It might be expensive, but there is almost no real world chance that media rights would stay with the Big 12. Each year that passes, the compensatory amount likely shrinks.

Right now, Oklahoma and Texas could probably bail for 75 million each....probably negotiated down to 60 million.

In a year or two, it could be 30-40 million and certainly attractive for a PAC, SEC, Big 10 raid.

Sad that you have to hold teams hostage in your conference.

This again? You are going to wear out the shovel you are scooping that ish with.

Three teams - OSU, Baylor, TCU

top 25 wins: 3, 2, 1
opponents record: 84-60, 61-70, 61-70
wins vs bowl eligible opponents: 9, 7, 6
Undisputed champ: Yes, No (co-champ), No (co-champ)
Number of FBS opponents: 13, 11, 11
strength of schedule: 45, 59, 53

Special thanks to Bob Stoops for his cranial rectal inversion at the end of the OkieLite game. Pushed OU out of the top 25, pushed Minnesota back in, weakened the case for both Baylor and TCU and strengthened the case for OSU.

excellent post chocked full of truth. well that and the Baylor AD and Briles had no spine whatsoever. Baylor plays just one decent P5 team OOC and wins and they were in imo, all due respect to the Buckeyes.

IMO Bowlsby knew full well that Baylor didn't have the sos to top Ohio State had they beaten Wisky regardless how bad even before the KState game because of Baylors terrible OOC slate, that's why he pushed for "co-champs" (the conference didn't change that rule beforehand because they wanted to see how the committee was going to judge conference champions, I think we see that go bye bye now that they understand full well) to try n get TCU and a B12 team in the playoff, it was our best shot.

And yes OU didn't help matters either, what a freggin joke acting like they are to good for this conference when they cant even win it :pound::rollseyes:

I think you forgot that TCU also beat Minny, in fact, TCU gave Minny their worst beat down all year, while tOSU barely beat Minny.

after the one true champion joke, you know this is going to be screwed up in the first season they play a CCG. the teams locked in at first and second place will be playing each other the week before the conference title game

TCU and Baylor had pretty much identical schedules. Baylor beat TCU head to head so once the schedules equalized (which didn't happen until the last week of the season when Baylor played KSU), TCU was never in the discussion. If a Big 12 team deserved to go, it was Baylor.

Baylor's schedule was so bad their resume wasn't as good as Ohio State's.
