WVU, TCU,KState all belong But there IS something to be said for a program like Pitt.

No stadium, no fans, conference sucks, and nobody alive remembers their last NC and yet.... I hear tales that the school STILL sponsors a team that plays in the Steelers parking lot from time to time.

Kudos to Pitt for honoring nostalgia.

Here's a little college football trivia for you. Michigan stole the winged helmet concept from Michigan St. who stole it from Brown University.

There were several teams that had winged helmets before Michigan including Ohio State, Purdue, Michigan State, and Princeton. Michigan hired former Princeton head coach Herbert “Fritz” Crisler to be their head coach, he made the move to the winged helmet. The first game that they played with the winged helmet was against Michigan State who was also wearing the winged helmet. Michigan dominated the game.

There were a bunch of teams around the same time that used that version of the winged helmet. We stole Crisler from Princeton who was using a similar design. So technically we stole it from them. The differences seen here:

And one of the major things Crisler did at Michigan, was painting the wings bright yellow from Princeton's, seen here:
