Bad post defense and screen defense cost us the game. Worst defensive effort by far.

Facepalm. I was certain VT would win with Minnesota's two best players out. Come on Greenberg. Come on Hudson.

Shit performance (Erik Green aside) in a game that really should have been a win. With the ACC getting its ass handed to it in the Challenge, national recognition will go down which means OOC wins will be all that more important. This was a missed opportunity which I think Greenberg has pretty much trademarked.

I'd break it down more but really, just go back and listen to Bob Knight's commentary. He's a dick, but every criticism he usually has with a team is spot on. We got worked in the paint because of poor defense and we have 0 offense. Don't confuse making shots with offense. We're not putting guys in position to make easy shots. It's the same as its been for years. I might as well buckle up and get ready for yet another year of screaming at my TV while we make things difficult.

BTW, I seriously question Greenberg's coaching putting Green back into the game after his injury. I don't care if the kid has the heart of 10 men. That was a nasty fall and he was in terrible pain, even after the game was over. He's not going to be as effective and you run the risk of potentially making things worse. Did his shot almost go in? Yeah, but that's not the point.

way before Green went off the side of the court i was wondering why they made it elevated with that very concern...anyone know the reason?

Zo was not in this game...that was evident by the shot clock violation, followed by the double dribble on the very next possession.

With as bad as we looked, i'm surprised we only lost by 3, thanks to Green. After hurting his shoulder, when he came back in, I'm guessing he was coming in as a decoy, and maybe trying to draw defenders to him to get Brown a shot...but that all went out the window when Brown bobbled the in bounds pass....valiant effort by Green, it would have been nice if he had some help

edit: Green did have a little help from Brown, and Davilla offensively. our D looked turrible though

A number of Big Ten floors are elevated like that. It's quite honestly a hazard. Hopefully Green is ok. I agree he should have been on the bench too. I'm somewhat surprised he was even able to raise his arm to shoot.

Dissapointing loss.

Davila has yet to ever live up to his hype. Remember this is a kid that was 135 overall and had offers from Memphis and Wake Forest back when they were top dogs.

A lot of that has to do with coaching. Like some of us have stated, Greenberg isn't all that good at developing players, especially big men. Davila has shown in the past he has all the tools, he's just very raw. You would get a flash of what he could do and then nothing for 3 to 4 games straight. Greenberg never expanded on that to develop him into a more well rounded big. Same thing with Jeff Allen. Either everyone needs to admit that Greenberg is not a good coach (don't count recruiting as coaching) or just beg him to hire an offensive specialist as an assistant.

Jeff Allen was a well rounded big except he wasn't that tall.
Davilla isn't a well rounded big but he doesn't have good enough hands to rebound very well. He would probably double his rebounds and half his turnovers if he did not have hands of stone.

I just realized how stupid it is to have a key OOC game be on a Sunday after the ACC championship game.

I'm not really sure why it's raised but it's been that way for approximately 80 years. And I believe it's one of the last remaining elevated floors. Out of the 30 years I've been watching I believe I've only seen five players fall off it. It wasn't that many years back they hosted the final four there are also. I hope Eric Green is all right. Good luck the remainder of the season.

Jeff Allen had games where he went off. Huge stats in some key games. Other times he would foul out by halftime.

It was just his play style. Sometimes he was just stupidly aggressive but a lot of times it paid off. You don't become 4th all time in VT history with steals and rebounds by being passive.

Such a disappointment. How is Greenberg not on the hot seat?
