Paxton looks more fit than I've seen him.

I will be there in less than a month. My wife and I decided we would keep our 8 year run going with a 9th year at S.T.

Yeah. Hard to tell if any weight gain happened or how much. The specifics don't really matter. I'll be paying more attention to the results of whatever he did in his offseason workouts to make himself more durable this season and maybe put a couple more MPH on his fastball.

On another note, it's great to see AD out there in uniform working with the guys. He was one of my favorite players growing up and the more Mariners legends the current players have at their disposal to learn from and bounce things off of, the better.

I'm pretty bullish on Paxton this year. The numbers were fairly solid last year the 4 months he was up. Ended up with a FIP of 2.80 and was relatively healthy last year. Only injury he had last year was being out 2 weeks after being hit by that line drive. Can't really blame him for that, it's just poor luck. Seems like changing the arm angle really was a difference.

I remember hearing that, not 103 but something ridiculous. I just remember some guy throwing 100 plus but was wild, F that. I remember 95 being too fast to see, can't imagine 103.

Chapman has made a fortune throwing that hard. Let's hope he has the same future.

Thyago Vieira is an interesting prospect... I was surprised to see how long he had been in the Mariners organization (since 2011) and I don't remember really paying attention to him until last season.

You gotta wonder how much the new regime and the "control the zone" mentality helped this kid. My guess is it turned his career around. He is one of the players that could have a significant impact in the BP in the near future.

Ya I found it interesting that they were ready to let him go until a MiLB coach who came over from Angels saw something in him and gave him the extra attention and now he could be something of use and maybe something special. It is actually nice to see them using different approaches which I am not sure they did in the past.

Exactly... This org has not been able to get the most out of their prospects for a long time. Now we are seeing what a good organization should be doing and making players reach their full potential or at least that is what it feels like is happening.

"Whatever It Takes" is the new slogan for the Mariners. I guess it beats "True To The Blue", but whatever it takes should mean spending more as well instead of, as they have said themselves, "going for it" while still going cheap on the starting pitching, RF, 1B, and catching. I enjoy young talent as much as the next guy, but saying we are going for it and not spending top 5 money is kind of bs'ing and now adding "Whatever it takes" continues the mislead in my book.

This is more of a pet peeve thing than being disappointed in the team or management/ownership.
