I like Pill's bat, but I'm having trouble envisioning him as an OF. I see DH in his future. Perhaps we should trade him for a more appropriate prospect?

For the guys here going to ST, please let us know what you see in this regard.

Thanks.

I think Pill is serviceable in LF and can play a little 3b as well. I'll report from Scottsdale when I get down there.

Riot is a possibility, but I think that between Abreu and Tanaka (and Noonan, to a lesser extent), the org can save money and get similar production. I also doubt Riot will come back only to have to compete for a bench role.

I just do not think it is a good fit, unfortunately.

I think the OF spot is between Paggs, Kiesh and Gillespie (Cole, not Gonor)

That's a good take. Somebody will give Riot a shot at an everyday gig.

Theriot is a perfect fit for this team. If he doesn't find a regular gig somewhere else, I hope he comes back into the fold. And what leads you to believe that Abreu and Tanaka can produce similarly to Theriot?

You think they'll get Riot back? That would be great.

No team has offered him a starting job yet, so why not come back to the Giants? He'll get plenty of playing time, I think.

This. When all else fails, go back to one of the teams that got you a ring and has a 37-year-old in front of you on the depth chart. Although, being honest, he might also be behind Arias. In which case, hello, St. Louis! ;)

Ahhh...the deferred payments, gotcha. I should point out that Dan Murphy makes 2.93M this year, which is more than BBs payment.

Nonetheless, good catch.

isnt he a 2nd baseman though?

Ram
Tanaka
Pags

If neither of Tanaka or Abreu blow the socks off the competition, I think the nod goes to Abreu (simply because he's already on the 40-man roster). Tanaka would have to really beat Abreu out to get the spot (IMO). And a 32-year-old backup for a 37-year-old starting 2B ?
