Maybe we could trade Hill for AJ Green?.....no that is probably a little low, Green and Burfict, that should work.

No. We need a solid backup and some who've posted proposals here vastly overvalue Hill in the eyes of the rest of the NFL, imo.

I present the trade value of the following bums as evidence of the value of a proven starting QB in the NFL where salary dump is not a key part of the trade:

Smith, Alex - 2 2nd round picks
Whitehurst, Charlie - 3rd round pick
Cassell, Matt - 2nd round pick (plus huge salary signing)
Schaub, Matt - 2 2nd round picks
Kolb, Kevin - Starting CB plus a 2nd round pick

All unproven guys though viewed as capable of playing longer. I don't think a third to a team outside the division is unreasonable at all for a guy who can capably start. If Stafford goes down the Lions aren't going to win the Superbowl, so why keep a an asset as a fill-in to try and win 9 games instead of 7?

If Stafford doesn't go down we aren't winning the Super Bowl...

Haha! You guys are a bit more harsh than I was.

Sometimes I type faster than I think.... :L

Still, the point is that the Browns need a QB really bad. if I were the Browns and wanted to make the playoffs this year I would make a move for Hill. They aren't the crazy Al Davis Raiders, but we should ask for more than a mid rounder for Hill. Something that gets us help this season (Gordon?) would be nice. We don't need to trade Hill, so if they wanted a competent QB they should pay an amount that hurts or looks somewhere else.

Lions would probably lose the majority of their games if staff went down, they arent going to the super bowl either way so wouldnt mind seeing them trade hill if the pick is high enough.

I think they could make the playoffs with Hill. (Offense wouldnt hardly have to change) Aren't winning the Super Bowl with the special teams unit though. Did Hanson get blocked three times in a season EVER?

Just dont follow the logic, they are trying to make the playoffs so they trade their best receiver for a backup qb? If the browns intents are to make the playoffs they arent going to be trading their best offensive player. They wont be making the playoffs tho.

All those guys were young and viewed as having potential. Hill is not a proven NFL starter and the claim is laughable.

So Whitehurst and Kolb were proven starters? Gotcha.

Aside from possibly Whitehurst they were all much hotter commodities than Shaun Hill. If we consider him disposable because he isn't good enough to lead the Lions to the SB, why would anyone else think otherwise and who is that team ? The Bears maybe ? Do we really want to deal him to the Bears ?

Schaub had one start before being traded to the Texans, I believe.
