You see some transactions and you go... Hmmmm.

Jordan Pacheco was placed on the 15 DL yesterday retro to June 3rd and sent on a rehab assignment the same day. So for 12 days the guy has been hanging out and conveniently when a roster move is needed he's hurt.

To be honest..... did anyone including the dugout staff even notice he hasn't played for two weeks?

Pacheco was kept as a emergency catcher when Mesoraco's durability was in question. We now know Mesoraco wasn't durable, so with two healthy catchers and obviously no use for the guy.....
Why is Pacheco still hanging out in the dugout?

We've learned something this month. The Reds can beat really bad teams. They may only get three hits, but it's good enough when the other team hasn't surpassed the 20 win mark in the middle of June.

I continue to criticize Price for his antics. I realize this is administrative on Pacheco, but does Price have zero say in his own roster? I mean, Bryan ... how in the fuck does this help the fucking Reds?

I heard Marty talking to a writer a few weeks back when the Reds were playing the Rockies. Cabrera hurt his thumb and was sent back to Cincinnati for an MRI. The Reds had a catcher from the minors fly out to Denver to stand by. When the writer ask "why not use Pacheco" the response by management was "that's not what he's here for" But all during spring we were told that's why they brought him north, or north east now. So like Hit n Run said Hmmmmm.

That catcher would be Raffy Lopez.
Who.... you may be wondering?
Me too!

Turns out he had a cup of coffee in 2014 with the Cubbies. He's been traded, released, signed, released, Independent ball, and now he's heir to the throne if one of our catchers goes down..... all in less than one year.

Glad to have you Raffy.... have another cup of coffee and move onto the next stop.

Corky has grown into the role of Sensei and Raffy would be the grasshopper

Corky taught him everything he knew about catching in the first five minutes..... the rest was devoted to telling the "Legend of the Stache".

I think Corky might be a little down the pecking order for next Reds' manager. I think Riggleman would be at the top of the Reds' list if the job were available today.

I don't see the Reds firing Price during the season. They haven't given any indication he'll be here next year though.

I have advocated for DeShields, who really deserves a chance.
Riggleman would "right the ship" but I don't think he's Moses.
That all assuming they stay inside the organization.

Somebody needs to tell George Grande that salivating over players from 30 years ago isn't exactly what draws in a new fan base. Quoting "Bamberger" is not exactly what the new demographic wants to hear.

Freddy Freeman has hit everything the Reds throw up there. I wonder if it ever occurred to this brain-dead manager to have somebody set Freeman on his ass with a pitch?

Simon was on-display proof that the Reds got stuck with bad merchandise and can't do anything about it except endure this sort of loss. Atlanta, as bad as they are, were just doing BP off the guy.

Price has expressed a sense of loyalty to Simon for past performance with the team. That's all well and good if you're trying to win the good guy award, but it doesn't play so well when your job is on the line.

I'm still surprised they haven't released Simon, but the day isn't over yet.

best guess is they put him on the DL and eventually shove him onto the 60-day. I would think that's a matter of happening this weekend. He can do a Sean Marshall and go out with dignity.

I agree about Freeman, Freemans a good hitter, But there has been a lot of 200 hitters that the Reds made look like Hall of Famers. I believe it's because the Reds don't pitch inside enough, and when they do it's not meaningful. They are just to relaxed up there. I wonder if this might be a philosophy of Price. I wouldn't have a clue as to why, but the Reds just don't throw inside very much.

Reds' A.J. Morris: Hits DL, Diaz recalled

Morris was placed on the 15-day DL on Thursday.

Morris came on in relief Wednesday night but was bothered by soreness in his throwing shoulder. While the Reds are yet to provide an update on his status, the DL placement indicates that it could be something more severe than simple, routine soreness. To temporarily take Morris' spot on the 25-man roster, the Reds recalled Dayan Diaz from Triple-A on Thursday.

Reds' Cody Reed: Set to make major league debut
Saturday against Dallas Keuchel and the Astros.

Reed has progressed rapidly, posting an ERA below 3.50 and WHIP of 1.21 or lower in 60-plus inning stints at High-A, Double-A and Triple-A ball since 2015. He strikes batters out at a high rate as well, recording 63 K's over 64.2 innings with Triple-A Louisville this season. The 23-year-old lefty will face an Astros team that is 21st in baseball in team wOBA and ninth in K-rate (23.7 percent) over the past 30 days.

Reds finally admitting Simon's shoulder is shot. So while it's clear he can't pitch, it's a confusing matter as to whether to replace him on the roster. Meanwhile, the yo-yo approach to how this team functions is suddenly laughable.
