Starting today there is 2 months left of baseball and 53 games remaining. The Reds have a great chance at gaining some ground this weekend against the Cardinals. We have been struggling, But they have been struggling alot worse then what we have been. Hopefully after the win in SD, and the much needed day off our offense can get it going tonight at GABP. It's no longer early anymore, Now is the time to make a run at back to back division titles.

Probable Pitchers
Game 1-Bronson Arroyo VS Shelby Miller
Game 2-Tony Cingrani VS Jake Westbrook
Game 3-Mike Leake VS Lance Lynn

Go Reds!!!!! Time to beat up on some birds!!

Our guys have been under .500 for more than half of the season so far, so they've had plenty of days off . They need some days on, from here on out. Hit, pitch and play D in the same game for a while.

Kelch and Welsh:

Craig can't hit Arroyo. Result: Single to right.
Walk to Holliday. Arroyo rarely walks a guy, Welsh says.
Freese: He can't hit Arroyo. Three-run double.
What exactly can't they do against Arroyo?

I like this new approach the Reds are taking. Get down early so I don't have to waste my time watching this hopeless cause. 4 runs is an insurmountable lead considering the Reds' anemic offense.

Meat of the order manages a walk and 2 strikeouts.

It allowed me to turn it off so as to not listen to Reds announcers coughing up some more bullshit about "runners in scoring position."

So if one double to Beltran is good, let's let him get another one.

"Craig can't hit Bronson," Welsh is still saying into his crotch.

I suppose the guy who started the thread, Mister Wishful Thinking, is still optimistic that the Reds are just a short winning streak away from sewing up the NL-C.

Wait ... Frazier and Cozart struck out?
That doesn't happen often.

I predict the Reds won't have more than 12 strikeouts tonight.

I have an idea. Let's let Beltran get a good swing. He's not been hitting.

A fuckin' pennant race and the senior member of the rotation can't even get out of the damned fourth inning.

So let's put a guy in there who can't even throw a strike.
Meanwhile, there's that one leadoff hit ... we got that going for us.
Right?
And 7 strikeouts in 3 innings.

Stop me if you've heard this one before.
Votto walks, Phillips strikes out and Bruce hits into a DP.

Yeah, I know ... it's rare. Bruce would normally strike out instead of hitting the ball.
Frazier would make the third out.

Down by 10 runs, embarrassed again, Dusty still manages to use 5 relievers.
I suppose now he will bitch that his bullpen is tired.

If anyone is still optimistic after that game they aren't watching the same team I saw play tonight.

I have season tickets and enjoy going to the games, but this team has become brutal to watch. Everything about the Reds is so predictable. From the managerial moves to the failings of the players.

It's may of started out as a night of championship quality baseball with the Cardinals and the Reds hooking up in a "Central Division Showdown"......., but by games end it's reduced to fans rooting for K's so they can get a free small four topping individual pizza at La Rosa's. My ticket price may have gotten me a free pizza, but not much in the way of sound fundamental baseball.

Let me say it ONE more time--fire the goddamn manager! I think we will see light at the end of the tunnel here soon. If the Reds let the wild card slip away, DustMop will have a problem. Good chance they may put him on the boat and ship his sorry ass the fuck out of here. It is the Coaches and Manager's responsibility to prepare and teach players to play better baseball than we are seeing. The talent is here, the Coaching is not.

I watched enough of this travesty last night to know this:
Please stop with the "wow, ain't we kids" enjoying the wonderful pennant race. I keep waiting for some precocious kid to come in on a bike and save the day like in Angels in the Outfield. Right, Chico?

Please stop with the excuses that if we had all our players, this would somehow be different. If you can't bring your A game before 41,000 in a pennant race, you're not a contender. I don't care if Bronson didn't have his stuff, you BRING YOUR STUFF.

St. Louis is showing how to win. They lose 7 in a row, and decide ... screw it, win 13-0 and 13-3 ... and their leading hitter is on the DL. They have 6 rookies on their pitching roster. And when somebody throws Beltran some meat, he drives it for a hit, doesn't pop it up or strike out on an 0-2 count.

Reds got 5 hits last night.

Please, tell me how getting Cueto, Marshall and Broxton is going to fix that.

Curt Partch does not belong in the big leagues and Dusty gave up on the game in the 4th inning after the senior member of the staff didn't have enough grit to get through it ... Partch was lucky to be pitching in the same area code with Mesoraco.

IF this team goes out with 26 more wins in 52 games, unlikely at this pace, that's 86.

Dream on, dreamers.

You just got scammed.

So, Ryan ... get your "feeling" about how this team is going to somehow magically resemble a contender.
In an elimination game, there's ample evidence that the outcome would be something like 13-3. If a team can't get up for this series and play like they care, they never will.

This team has collectively said "fuck it."
