I wonder how many of Mattingly's 145 RBI that year was because Rickey was hitting in front of him.

Why dont you go see how far you can fit your fist down your throat

Actually, probably should've been Rickey Henderson. 146 runs scored in only 143 games. Damn.
When he got up to bat, there was a 22.3% chance he was scoring that year. No one has done that since, and the last guy to do that before him (with at least 500 plate appearances) was Jimmie Foxx in 1939.

For such a winning franchise, Yankees fans sure do love Don Mattingly. A guy who never won a playoff round.

Playing in an era when Steve Trout and Rick Roden were considered blockbuster acquisitions, its hard for me to blame Donnie......Rich Dotson and Andy Hawkins anchoring some of his staffs

Ill always love him for the 95 playoff series vs Seattle, guy was completely broken, and he gave his balls in that series, I dont know the numbers, I just know he came up big that entire series

I get it. Of course it wasn't Mattingly's fault they didn't do anything his entire time there. Just one unlucky bastard. The fact that he was part of the Yankees and Dodgers organizations as a player, coach, and manager for 26 seasons, and has never been to a World Series, is pretty crazy.

1995 he retires, 1996 the Yankees win the World Series
2008 he leaves the Yankees to be the Dodgers hitting coach, 2009 the Yankees win the World Series
2016 he leaves the Dodgers to become manager of the Marlins, 2017 the Dodgers go to the World Series

I'm sure he has rings for 1998-2000 with the Yankees as he was working for the team, but it's gotta be different when you are in uniform.

Yeah as much as I love the player, can't say the same for the manager

When Girardi was hired, the fan base was obviously pining for Donnie

When they didn't hire him, I thought it spoke volumes

I thought he underachieved badly in LA

He also missed the '81 World Series by a year. Called up in '82. Definitely snake-bit.

Getting caught in the shower sandwiched between Jamie Quirk and John Wathan is a stain that will never go away however

Even in the 80's, that is astonishing. Dimaggio had 6 seasons where his HR totals were higher than his K totals, which completely blows my mind.

Different game now.

remember that time when jeter and posada got caught sucking each other off in the sauna? when the clubhouse boy caught them, jeter said if he didnt tell anybody about it, he would him suck his dick.

it's in a book, so it happened.

And in exchange for keeping it mostly under wraps all these years, Jeter agreed to give the Yankees the NL MVP.
