Dont have your best player available in the playoffs in b2b years and you lose your job. What a joke
Yeah, that is bad.
Some coaches keep their jobs way too long, like Brett Brown, then good coaches like Nate get fired unfairly.
I don’t know what management expectations actually were for the Pacers this season, but IMO they came pretty close to maxing out based on their talent.
They are a good team. Not likely to compete with the top East teams without Sabonis.
He's always been shit in the playoffs. Career .321.
Worse with the Pacers - 3W 12L.
I'm happy to see him gone.
I mostly agree. I think it is more the way the team looked in the playoffs the past few years. Not even competitive. It's easy to just look at the record in the playoffs:
08-09 Lost to Rockets - had McGrady and Yao
09-10 Lost to the Suns - lost to Lakers in WCF's - Nash and Stoudemire
10-11 Lost to the Mavs - won the finals
16-17 lost to the Cavs - made it to the finals
17-18 lost to the Cavs - made it to the finals
18-19 lost to the C's (Kyrie was not injured)
19-20 lost to the Heat
You see a trend? A less superior team, that seemed to overachieve in the regular season, playing a better opponent. Even when they had a so-called "star" in Paul George, they lost to Lebron every year. Right now they have nothing close to a star in Indiana and are probably a first round out with just about any coach especially with Sabonis out.
He also coached Portland. This team had Aldridge and Roy with injuries catching up to Roy. This team was nothing special but they simply just played a team with star(s). You need stars in this league to win...if Indiana doesn't find one, they are going nowhere anytime soon.

Indiana will never win a title. They are a pretty well run organization who puts a competitive team on the floor and makes the playoffs every year so a good draft pick isn't going to happen. They are a small market team in a location that is not going to attract the top stars.
Someone had to say it.....
Woj says they have interest in D'Antoni
If I didn't like Bickerstaff and/or we were looking I'd want him here.Bad organization makes stupid decisions
It's clear?Someone had to say it.....
