Is Ryan Suter a top 50 player in the NHL? Sure, he's one of the highest paid players in the league, but I also think he's one of the most overrated players in the league. Full list of the top 50 can be found by clicking on the link below.

OEL is still underrated IMO>
I actually think Suter's underrated because people just look at his contract. Is Ryan Suter a top 50 player in the NHL? I'd personally go Keith for a d-man from this era but besides the lack of playoff success (which is overlooked for Ovie so why not him as well) Suter is a pretty good choice. He's 8th in scoring among defencemen in the past decade and among the top 10 on that list he has by far the lowest even-strength goals against while averaging the most ice time.

I also read a lot into how far Weber dropped from last year to this one considering how many guys in his division were all “thank god we don’t have to play against him 5 times a year now”. The guys in the east just kinda shrugged their shoulders and skated past his lumbering ass, I guess.
Well is the argument he isn’t a top 50 player (as ranked by the players themselves, btw) or that he’s on a bad contract? Brian Campbell had a dumpy contract but was still one of the better defensive d-men in the league during his time in both Chicago and Florida. But isn't that part of the equation though BBB?!? You get paid that much money and I think you'd better be more of a difference maker than Suter is - That 7.5 million cap hit extends until the 2024-25 season and he's 32 now, yeesh.

Need to separate the player from the salary - players don’t offer themselves money.
Offensively, I probably take all those guys you named save Hampus and Ellis over Suter but defensively I can't say other than Giordano I would take any of them over Suter. Assuming that the majority of guys who responded to the poll were forwards I'd say they likely think his defensive skill more than makes up for any offensive shortcomings (not that there really are any - I'll take a D-man who's averaged 43 pts/82 games the past 3 years any day.My take is that he's not a top 50 player in the league which is accentuated by being on a bad contract. Heck, as far as defensemen are concerned, there are several in the league that I would take over Suter, including Cam Fowler and Hampus Lindholm of the Ducks, Ryan Ellis of the Preds, and Giordano and Brodie in Calgary.
But hey, it's a player's poll and they would know better than me, he just looks pretty meh to me whenever I watch the Wild play.
Unless he’s received US citizenship during his career, he shouldn’t do it. It’s one thing if it’s your flag/anthem, completely another if it’s a country you’re a guest in.
