Sad news and eff cancer.

I never met Sasha but his nephew has been friends with my son since preschool (and convinced my son to start playing hockey last year). Weve become family friends with the boys parents and theyve been going up to kelowna every weekend missing spring hockey the past month or so to be with Sasha. They shared a lot of amazing/legendary stories about him ... sad ... rest in peace

Round 2 begins tonight with 2 games in the West. I think the Blues and Oilers win those series.

Jack Adams candidates are Mike Babcock, Todd McLellan, and John Tortorella.

Solid arguments could be made for all three. Young teams, good consistency and exciting hockey across the board.

But Torts doesn't have a first overall pick on HIS roster. :eyebrows:

And he is arguably the worst coach to start with.

Should spread a rumor that Larry Brooks is trying to blackball Torts. It'll be fun watching his head explode before he realizes there's no way Brooksie can do that

ESPN laid off LeBrun, Burnside, and Joe McDonald today. They covered hockey very little as is, but now I guess it will be even less so.

Timing seems stupid, could have waited another 6 weeks for the playoffs to conclude.

I bet he coached the hell out of that 23 point SV% increase from Bobrovsky

Ottawa got a 13 point bump in the standings year-over-year. Nothing to sneeze at, but the three nominees coached their teams to 26-33 pt bumps in the standings.

Agreed. It was mostly in jest. However all three of those coaches got those increases over themselves. With the possible exception of Tortarella none of them really changed much about how they did things. They just had much better teams. Don't get me wrong, they're all deserving but I think talent had much more to do with their team's improvement than the coach did.
