Did the linesmen miss an offside call? Absolutely. But by the letter of the NHL law, that point is irrelevant here. The goal should have counted and the teams should have been off to overtime. It’s all too often that we see fans accusing officials or the league costing their team a game. Usually, it’s nothing more than anger stemming from passion and bias. In this case, Avalanche fans have a right to be upset.

In case you missed it, a linesman was blocked out along the boards and missed an offside call in the Avs - Blues game last night and the Avalanche scored what they believed was the tying goal. The Blues called for an offside challenge, but the way the challenge is currently worded they shouldn't have been allowed to challenge. Bottom line, the right call was made and Divelanche media and fans are upset.

Kinda upsets me too. That part of the rule is in there so we don't wind up with more reviews than we need. But the Avs coaches should know this and speak up about it too. Had they said something to the ref he would've rejected the review.

Guessing going forward that's the last time this will ever happen.
