So basically anything inside of the beltway huh? You've made some very good points, the biggest being moving out of a larger market into a smaller one. Couple of questions though: 1. Is it possible that Mr. Snyder is betting on the current fan base following this team if he did move into southern Va.? 2. Is it still possible that he might move the team back near the site of ole' RFK but closer to children's Island as proposed before? 3. Could he in practical terms move the team to Richmond and hold on to "Washington" as part of the name?

1. Dallas has not played IN dallas in over 40 years. So yes he could move them any place and retain the name Washington.

2. With all the PC bullshit flying around, no way does the Federal Government allow him to build a stadium inside of the District while retaining the name Redskins. Ergo, the should not move back into DC even if they gave him the land and built the stadium for him. Three, Im in Florida, which has three teams of its own, but a Redskins fanbase as large or larger than the Dolphins, BUcs or Jags. So yes I think the real fanbase would understand the move to Richmond and still follow the team even if they changed the city name to Richmond. Even with a recent Superbowl title, the Ravens fanbase does not come close to the shear number of Redskins fans in the DMV area.

Where'ever snyder rebuilds 100 100 of thousands socalist will stand in front of the cranes and stuff showing united against the racist snyder

I know that you're trying to pick here, so understand this. All governments Fed, state and Local, incorporates some form of socialistic function in the way that they operate in this country, Military, police, fire and public education comes to mind. That said, wherever he builds he's going to need the blessing of whichever socialist incorporated government entity that's there. This will be especially important if you consider the socialist roads, and various other socialist transportation routes and accesses he's gonna need.

Sty I don't think they need to be inside the Beltway, infrastructure could be a real pain in that case. I think the best fit would be to go back into the city where all the Metro lines could access the stadium. We all know when it comes to money lots of issues rich folks and government can be solved for the good of all and it would benefit the city. I was on my high horse when I wrote my first post but I think the best thing would be for the team to be in the city. My other thoughts are the new Silver line going out to Dulles where there would be land. Could be a logistics nightmare for infrastructure. I could see something like the old Lorton prison being a good site. Not too far from the city, close to 95 etc. and I am sure there are other places they could buy land that is similar to that.

Snyder has been smart as an owner when it comes to VA. He has had beach events with the team in Tidewater which has a higher population density than Richmond. In the past couple of years he has worked on relations with Richmond and they have had a long presence in Ashburn. I can't see him moving the team to Richmond and opening up his largest market to be open to the Baltimore market which is closer. He has to play this almost like a military general ... Pittsburgh coming in from the west, Baltimore coming in from the North so he has to protect his borders.

I also think Dan is using this interview to send up an air balloon to see which way the wind currents are blowing. I really don't expect anything to happen for at least 10 years.

There is an old saying when it comes to governments and finances "money talks and BS walks." I have seen the city seem to far apart with others only to see them rally for the good of the city. Politics makes strange bedfellows. Never, ever under estimate the power of money.

1......Dallas? is that even an pro team? Good point though!!!

2......but, but , but what if the deal allowed the city to create and sell license plates?

3. So games would then be broadcast on CSN instead of our current local channel?

Much like having a black player was the line in the sand for getting permission to build RFK, the team name will be the line in the sand for building a new stadium inside DC. Some how Im just not seeing this as a doable situation.

Shark makes some good points but it is my opinion that you don't move to the third largest market in VA because of politics. Richmond is the third largest market in VA. NOVA and Tidewater are both larger markets.

The more I think of it the more I think all the rich people figure it's better to make nice with each other because the best place for the team is in the city. I grew up a couple of miles from Fed Ex Field but that stadium has never come close to being what old RFK was and for that matter look how much better Verizon Center has done as compared to the Capital Centre.

Sportster I can agree that Richmond might be a hard sell. But too many talking heads have come out in protest of the name for the team to ever move back into the city without losing the name. Its federal land after all, and any building permits have to be approved by the fed. With 50 talking heads putting their name to a letter to basically demand the team change the name, no way does the Obamacrats back down now.

I can't speak for San Francisco but I lived on Long Island and worked in NYC 15 years ago. Turn on WFAN in November and December they are talking about the Yankees. As much as the Redskins dominate the market here in Washington and everything else is an also ran the same is true in NY when it comes to the Yankees. They still play in the Bronx.

I would love the team to relocate inside of the city, however, against all odds I think that the name change will be the end of any effort to that end.

You are right though, at this point Richmond makes a lot of sense for Mr. Snyder personally, economically, and logistically it does not!

If I had to guess, my guess would be south of the city.... northern Va. not sure where though.

Shark I grant you that the Federal government could be the one hang up. They don't need the money, they can just increase the limit on their credit card. If that is the case then my bet would be on putting a stadium somewhere in NOVA.

Dulles corridor makes the most sense in that light then.

The fed will be the hold up. Can you imagine the backlash if they let the team move back into DC without changing the name?? I could see the headlines now. "Senate says name is Racist, then invites team back onto federal land."

I'm pulling my hair out thinking about SD selling out and just moving to LA when they are perfectly capable of building a new stadium.

Is the Skins stadium really in that bad of shape? It's one of the better looking ones with a big capacity....

How about a retractable roof on the thing!!! Historically, all of our stadiums were open air buildings, but if there is ever going to be a SB hosted in the region this is a must!!!

There has to be other considerations made for the "inside the city" hopefuls. The Nats play and built their stadium in an area that was for the most part infrastructurally (oops) ready. Mr. Snyders love of the team located inside of DC proper has historically deep roots as does the name not to mention the economics associated with the use of public monies and holding a SB here. If he is determined to relocate back into the city as earlier reports have indicated The question then
becomes......is he willing to negotiate the name in favor of this relocation.....or does the name stay at the expense of any hope to build inside of DC.

JKC paid for Fedex out of his own pocket. And as for giving up the name i order to move back into the city... I hope Snyder gives em the Johnny finger. :)
