Chick did an interview with Dan and they teased that a new stadium will be coming. No idea where, when or anything elsoe but Dan said he is in the early stages .... looking at some architectural drawings etc.

Where would you put the stadium. I have lived most of my life in MD but I would put it in VA. Too much political grief from DC and MD in my opinion.

Dont be shocked if the new stadium is in a suburb of Richmond. Its a move I would applaud actually. As much as I am a fan of the team, and Im a native Washingtonian, they need to cut ties with DC considering that DC Government and the Fed has shown this team zero love over the past 30 years at this point.

I am still skeptical. The day Snynder builds another stadium in the DC area, is the day FedEx (which he owns) becomes absolutely worthless. I can't imagine him just fully eating that asset like that just yet. FedEx sucks, but it's not that old.

A superbowl worthy venue would make the team immensely more valuable. Like I said, dont be shocked if the new venue is in VA, very close to Richmond. Worse case, they level Fedex and he sells off the land for residential or commercial property development.

What makes you think near Richmond? Not that I don't believe you, I just haven't heard anything about that. I'm sure it would make for huge news in the DMV

Richmond is the capitol of the state of Virginia. With all the name BS that has been out there, Richmond is the only place as far as government official that have had the gonads to come out and support the team, its name and its owner. The training camp facility is already in Richmond. Makes perfect sense.

This is a no brainer for Mr. Snyder, and a move to Richmond is his best choice by far in as much as where to build it. Training facilities are there, most players and coaches live there, headquarters are in Ashburn. Has an interesting ring to it too.......The Richmond R's. I wonder if changing the proper name to Richmond also wipes out the history as some have indicated?

The colts left Baltimore but they stayed the Colts. But I agree the team needs to move and flip DC the old Johnny finger.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha...........it will forever be known in these parts as such. (Johnny finger). Do you think that DC would insist that they be called something other than Washington, especially if they give the ole' double barreled Johnny finger as a parting gift?

I think as much as DC politicians are screaming for the name change, they havent redacted the redskins license plates or stopped selling them yet. Whats it cost, $50 a pop for a non standard plate per year in DC these days?? If they are so outraged by the name, you would think the Mayor would request that the team NOT be associated with the city seeing as how the team doesnt play there, train there, or even reside within the city. I think its a bunch of people who didnt care one iota about the team name jumping onto the PC band wagon to appear as if they care about the plight of the poor struggling native American, and if they could just give them this one little thing... well then that would make up for keeping them on reservations in parts of the country the Marine Corp didnt even want. And for the Corps to say fuck thats just to harsh says alot.

Sty its funny how just three years ago DC government was fighting to enact a bill to make money off the same racial slur they are now trying to have removed.

Washington?s bizarre sports license plate legislation - DC Sports Bog - The Washington Post

Isnt it Ironic??

Absolutely!!!! We are engulfed in a sea of greed and political correctness, yet as you have correctly pointed out......selective as to which angers us most. In this case greed trumps correctness.

I don't think for one second the team would move to Richmond. You leave a big market for a small market? I don't see that at all.

Lets not forget the Ravens are 40 miles north of DC, do you think Snyder would abandon the DC market and leave them to becoming Ravens fans? You just don't surrender that kind of money.

The fact that the Ravens are so close limits where the team might go in MD. The only place that might be appealing in MD that I can think of is over near the National Harbor. Anything else is going to problematic because of the Ravens.

DC has really shot itself in the foot when it comes to the team. There has been so much revitalization in the city due to the Verizon Center and Nationals Park that a new football stadium could offer a lot to the city but the DC politicians aren't savvy enough to know when to shut up.

That leaves buying land west of the city but still near it. Closer yet to Redskin Park and Snyder lives in Potomac. My 2nd thought is going south down 95 but not so far that the team becomes Richmonds team. It would however make it easier for people down there to drive up to.

I think this is a tease by Snyder. He is putting out feelers to see what happens. I think it will be at least 10 years before the team moves into a new stadium. He did say he wants it to be retro and remind everyone of RFK and even asked the architects if the lower bowl could move or sway the way it did in RFK.

Back in the day, RFK was a bona fide home field advantage. IMO...FedEx is not, and never will be.

Maybe, since Obama a/k/a "our brother from another mother, and country" says marijuana is not as "dangerous as alcohol"...he can put together a political pow wow with D.C. brass, Roger Goodell, Snyder and the minority representatives of native americans that are offended by the name REDSKINS.

I'll bet a lot of good would come out of that little chillin' get together...HTTR!

Another thought, the silver line on the Metro is just starting to open but will be going out to Dulles where there is a lot of land. That is also close somewhat close to Ashburn.

Or maybe as I have suggested, there was nothing wrong with the name until some one in their own moment of greed and visions of glory decided to make a push to make it incorrect.

So basically anything inside of the beltway huh? You've made some very good points, the biggest being moving out of a larger market into a smaller one. Couple of questions though: 1. Is it possible that Mr. Snyder is betting on the current fan base following this team if he did move into southern Va.? 2. Is it still possible that he might move the team back near the site of ole' RFK but closer to children's Island as proposed before? 3. Could he in practical terms move the team to Richmond and hold on to "Washington" as part of the name?

All things are possible when the answer to the question is based on opinion, perspective, and experiences, greed (which goes both ways) and vision. In this case there is not one absolute or correct answer to the question.
